linked one ton escalade (coming back soon)

Got a rear sway bar today.

Made a parts list for a 40 spline steering Dana 80. It gets scary.
Hubs-$620
Spindles-$400
Drive flanges-$200
Solid knuckles-$460
ARB-$1200
Axleshafts-$1500?
Steering arms - $300
Gears - $300
Bearings and seals - $300?

Maybe I should just drive it first as is? Lol

I have an ARB RD176, 40 spline hubs, spindles and bearings, Foote 40 spline stub axles and a Dana/Spicer 5.38 ring and pinion and a special socket for the 40 spline spindle nut.

But really... what are you building?? It sounds fun.

I had been collecting parts to build a mud truck but I farm cotton in Texas and we have been in an extreme drought and I have not had any fun money so it will probably not happen.

I started collecting parts to build a 40 spline kingpin Dana 80 front. Later I changed my plans to use F550 outers. Then I discovered what an Axletech 4000 was before they became popular and bought a bunch of them really cheap. Now I have a bunch of parts and no money. It sucks.

Well I have the no money, but not a bunch of cool parts.... hahaha would you be interested in selling them? You can message me if you want.

Your story sounds a lot like how mine go, I bought this, then found this. Then bought this instead too :haha:

Yes, I would sell them. I will have have to think about what I would need to get for them. After being around Axletechs, there is no way I am going to build the Dana 80. The stuff is just too expensive and I would still be worried about breaking them. For less than I would spend on the axles, I could buy a PSI blower for my 632 and that sounds like a lot more fun.

Took it out for another short drive in the mud. When I go from drive or reverse to park it sounds like something is still spinning the clunks into park sometimes. I wonder if the trans isn’t too low on fluid? It leaks and I didn’t check it this time. Wasn’t doing it before.

I don't think that's going to fit in the garage! You need to take that to like a fancy golf course or somewhere normal people with Cadillacs go a lot just cuz it's a caddy.

Still unsure what’s making the noise... transmission or transfercase, it doesn’t do it in 2 high. Hopefully they both last at least 1 day next weekend. Bringing a Jeep as backup just in case.

How do I know what angle to mount the sway bar at? Slightly angled up at ride height I assume?

One brake was still dragging because I didn’t fix it, when I pulled in to the shop apparently it was on fire. Lol. I should fix that tomorrow maybe
