BTW, you really can't tell which grade head gasket you need until you have it torn down to see the mark on the gasket. The parts catalog won't tell by Vin.
Also plan on buying head bolts. They are torque to yield.
Had a rethink on the procedure. Hydroboost lines get removed, booster stays with the cab. Master cylinder is removed from booster and will sit with lines attached negating having to rebleed the system.
Finally unloaded this thing off the trailer, 3 hours later it doesn’t look bad when you take the doors and windshield frame off, looks like it’ll be easy to straighten out. Stuck a new oil pan on because the axle destroyed this one and let it sit and run for 20 minutes. Runs perfect.
Now it’s on the hoist and I kind of want to weld this rock krawler log arm on it...
Someday if I ever have time to actually work on it I would really like to try a double bell crank steering with the 4 link. But I know it would take several days to figure out. I should sell it and start over.
Hypertherm 85 showed up last Friday. The 5x10 table should be there in the next week or two and my dad also ordered a rogue fab bender upgraded to bent 2” solid shaft that’s showing up Monday.
He buys all this cool shit after I move a state away
My dad took the pickup to Texas to get another TJ and LJ yesterday. Also he sent me a picture, gaskets and head studs for it arrived. Hopefully get those installed next weekend or so? Then I’ll just need a lift pump and should be good for quite a while.
Unrelated(like everything in here) does anyone know the measurement on a Dana 60 from the center of the kingpin to the wheel mounting surface?
Went to Moab for the weekend. I’m super impressed with the LJ, didn’t unhook the sway bars ever and didn’t air down the 30” tires ever. Got to meet up with some CK5 people on Saturday and did fins and things and then hells revenge. Sunday we went to a wedding on top of the world. Then Monday morning we did hells revenge again and I did hells gate.
My dads plasma table arrived yesterday. Going back this weekend to help set it up. I might even put the trans and transfercase in the Escalade and get it brought out to Colorado so I can work on it on weekends or nights. I’m guessing every weekend for the next couple months I’ll be going back to Nebraska to play with the table though. I really want to cut one of these super duty swap kits out for the 2000-2007 GM trucks. And he just bought a 2wd duramax that would make a great candidate...
I think the bed on the back of the single axle 8.3 semi would be great. With this camper in between. Ultimate tow rig for the Escalade. Could literally fix anything anywhere, just lift it up with the crane.
