Looking to buy 1974 K5

That's interesting..didn't know that. So the truck is always in 4x4? No wonder the owner complained about the gas mileage.

If you change them out to the part time setup keep the covers and the pucks...you cannot get these anywhere...somebody will want them one day.

what does the interior look like?

It looks like arse to put it lightly. Seats are worn out, dash and bezel are cracked, and I just tossed all of the carpet/rubber mat. But I knew that when I bought it...what I didn't know is how expensive a replacement dash is. They're proud of those. Probably try a few junkyards to see if I can come up with something.

What color is the interior / dash?

Stock, as often as not was 3.08's...:doah:

does the TH350 supposed to have Drive, D1 and D2?

Mine has that marked on the column, but I can't seem to get the shifter to go to D2....linkage?

There should be a tag on one of differential cover bolts that tell what the ratio is.
You could count tire rotations to drive-line rotations (note, both tires have to turn the same because the differential may shrew the the count.)
The sure fire way is to remove the cover and count the teeth.(the tooth count may even be stamped on the ring gear) and divide the count between the ring gear and pinion.

All this providing the PO didn't swap axles the ratios don't match front to rear like on my blazer when I got it.:weapon21::weapon7:

If it's still there, there's a tag on one of the diff cover bolts that has gear info... Usually the bolt at 2 o'clock... If not, when you service the diff there are numbers stamped on the ring gear... It will tell you how many teeth are on the ring and pinion... You divide the numbers to get the ratio...

What color is the interior / dash?
It's blue...or what was blue at one time.

I need a new dash bezel too as this one is cracked and in pretty rough shape

Uh,oh

I knew there were rust spots...what I didn't know was how bad the rust might be. So I started poking and found that the rear wheel arches had been filled with some sort of hard rubber/plastic material that was surrounded by sheet metal. It's not too far up into the panel but for my experience level it presents a bit of a challenge. Looking at purchasing these panels and reliving my high school welding days.. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/GMK-4144-650-73R/ .....anyone have any experience with this scenario and Goodmark panel patches?

I also found some rust holes in the rocker panels and doors. Compared to some of the trucks I've seen on the site, I think I'm pretty fortunate...I just have to get smart on repairing what I have. Someone please tell me everything will be okay...

went and took a pic of the diff...have to go get my door pin/bushing kits. I'll get under there later for a more thorough inspection.

engine bay

Pic of the engine bay. What I thought was really interesting was discovering a toggle switch on the lower dash that cranks the starter. The normal key ignition works too...weird. Originally I thought the toggle switch was to prime an electric fuel pump or something but that's not the case...you can see it below the windshield wiper switch in the upper dash photo.

rear interior

Looks good so far. Couple of seats with integrated seat belts I picked up off Craigslist...war-gaming how the heck I will mount them.

Suspension

From what I can tell, everything looks original underneath...which should prove interesting to remove. The front springs are actually bent towards the ground, I suspect they are worn out or should they do that? The rear shocks have springs around them and look like they were built in 1974. At some point someone greased the service points under this puppy but for the most part it's all worn out (bushings, ball joints, etc.) The wet areas are where I soaked the bolts in WD-40
