Low Buck Wheeler: Project Stump Jumper

Subscribed:waytogo:

Now you got me thinking of bobbing my bed too...
I like that it still looks like a truck.

No dude, Thank you! Builds like this are inspiring. Goes to show you can have a great, fun truck and it dont have to be overly complicated and extravagant.

Thanks man, the build on here are what keep me going and motivated to keep building it better.

Well, I haven't managed to snap any pics of the parts pile but here's a quick List of what coming next.

DIY4x Dana 60 and 14 bolt axle shock mounts
15" (fronts) and 11" (rears) travel procomps
procomp limit straps
DIY4x Front Shackle Frame Eye Hanger
6" shackles for the front
6" cross-tied shackles for the back
New poly bushings for the front 52's
Nice set of used alum valve covers
Shorty headers
Mallory dizzy (i'm still running points)
New plugs and wires
Edelbrock Torker II intake manifold
New hood

I'll try and toss some pics of the progress and the parts soon.

I've been swamped lately with work putting in 75hrs a week and we just found out that my wife is pregnant with our second! So haven't had time to post any pics but i'm moving forward and collecting parts.

I have installed an edelbrock performer intake manifold, new valve covers, mallory dizzy, new plugs and wires, new water pump, alternator and power steering pump. I also installed the cross tied shackles on the back and rebuilt 1 front leaf pack with new bushings and a replaced the frame hanger with one of Kert's, I still need to do the other side.

The parts pile is also growing, I picked up:
24bolt H1 rims
2 5/8 spacers
37" goodyears with rubber run flats
2 15" travel BBCS shocks
solid diff covers for the 60 and 14b
a mini spool to replace my blown up gov bomb in my 14 bolt
I ordered an aluminum dash from kert
I should be placing an order for my 10 point cage and 14 point conversion kit from s&w in the next day or so...

Lots of good things coming down the pipe. I'll try and get pics up in the next day or so.

Good luck and congrats on your expected baby.:thumb:

Maybe I missed it, but what about your rock sliders? I assume you made them yourself? Do you have any closeup pics? I want to build or buy some like yours for my short bed truck. Does the body and bed hit them when you flex out? Obviously they're not limiting your flex.

Really digging the build.:waytogo:

Thanks man! We're very excited about another little one running around :woot:

As far as the sliders go I actually bought those from a 4x4 shop in Idaho, they are made by Marlin Crawler though. I got them for $125 on sale and figured that I couldn't buy DOM notch, bend and weld it for that much less than that so I think they are worth it. I'll try and snap some pics but all I did was cut 6x6 squares out of 1/4" plates and weld those to the frame and then run the provided tubes into square stock and then weld that to the plates. The tubes that came with the kit were to short so I sleeved them with the square stock to gain the additional 4" or so I needed to make it to the frame. I don't have any body to slider contact when flexed out, but I my frame is also a 74 and super thick with lots of additional bracing and crossmembers thrown in so it's pretty damn rigid. Here's the site for the sliders: http://www.marlincrawler.com/armor/side/rock-slider

Thanks so much for all the encouragement guys, it means alot. This project truck has soaked up alot of time and money which as a married 22 year old with a daughter under 1 and another on the way along with working facilities maintenance and running my own construction biz I don't have much of either. And the kind words keep me motivated. So I want to say thanks to the brotherhood for everything.:thumb:

More Goodies to add to the ever growing parts pile...

The S&W cage has arrived and looks great
Mojave Heater
Ballistic Springless High Steer Arms
C&M Machine Bronze Kingpin Bushings
Lock Right For the Front 60
35 Spline Stub Shafts

Saving to pick up Gauges for the DIY4x Dash and 35 spline locking hubs

And a teaser pick with the 8 Bolt H1s and 37's...

I looked this up because I've always liked your avatar picture, great build thread!

You plan on re-centering the h1's down the road so you can ditch the spacers?

73: Windshield
74: Frame and Engine
77: Frame Scabs for steering box and frame splice
79: Rear Drive Line
81: 14 Bolt
82: Dana 60
83: Doors and Bed
84: Cab and Driveline
85: Np205
86: Sm465 w/ Hydraulic clutch
87: 52" Leaves and Tilt Column
04: 64" Springs

This sounds like a Johnny Cash song. "One part at a time"
I like it, good work!

I think I'm gonna paint mine that color as soon as it warms up enough for the paint to stick. My truck won't be nearly as cool as this one though, that's for sure.

so you didnt like the truggy bed?

im torn cuz im going to get a crew cab... looking to do a truggy bed like what you had on there.. or id cut down the current bed front and back to fit it smaller on there....
not user yet... crew aint in my possession but starting my thinking...

i say bob the front and put the cage rear back on that would look nice.

Or cut the bed about 2 feet and throw it on there so you have a small short bed.

I'm doing both, truggy bed, with skins :) Anyways you took 20" out of the frame I'd be interested where you cut and how. I have my measurements laid out and it and to make the 30 degree Z cut i can only take out about 16.5" and still be able to put 64's on it. And what was your final wheelbase?
