Take video. We like carnage.
You don't want it lol. I've been going through issues with that exact thing. Recently it popped a seal, sprayed anti freeze on the belt, which slipped off on the new tensioner and wrapped around the fan. Fixed it all.... Then the belt randomly came off again. Checked out all the pulleys, put it back on, and it did it again within that day. Said fork the gates tensioner pulley with no side ridges And got a new stock style figuring it would stay on better, along with a new belt. Worked for about a month, and yesterday it chit the belt again idling. Destroyed the belt this time. I'm not replacing it.
All pulleys are good, nothing seems to have bad bearings, it all lines up and seems to operate smoothly. But for some reason it kicks a belt out of nowhere once in a while.
I'm seriously debating cranking the turbo pressure as far as it'll go and flat footing it in park until it fails hard lol. Then push it in the shop and tear it apart.
It won't be driven under diesel power again except to move it inside the shop.
Not sure what small blocks you have owned but I know you had a LT1.Every car is a crap shoot. And every time you turn the key is another dice roll.
I've heard that a small block 350 is unbreakable. Both of mine have been unreliable garbage. Constantly broken. Haven't completed even one successful road trip with either one, and I have tried. Pretty easy to get soured on the whole GM brand. Yes, it's broken again today. Of course it is.
But...that's just my situation. Other folks have good success with GM and with small blocks. It's irrational for me to judge the whole brand based on two terrible cars. And the same goes for your suburban. Other folks drive for years without shredding a belt, it's not a design issue. You have some underlying problem to correct, throwing belts is not the norm.
Now just get some tannerite, set it between those coolers and grab the gun... and done!

Arguably the worse of the small blocks. Not exactly the pinnacle one should measure off of.
There is a reason why more small block chevys have been produced then any other engine ever.

I've always loved the B bodies. Never was able to get a wagon and really wanted one.Since Rick won't mind the derailment, here is what I have now. I replaced the LT1 with an L05. I haven't felt like posting anything about it because it's been towed home twice and I've only put 400 miles on the clock. I'm a bit sore about that (for now).

I fixed it up, drove it for a bit, and lunched the rear U-joint. Towed it home (again) and changed the U-joint. Take it out for a test drive and I fill the highway with smoke. ATF spraying onto the exhaust system. Again, trying to start a fire. I'm not very happy with it right now.
). The LT1 was fun to drive, during the few minutes it actually ran properly.
, and that's all I really built the engine to safely take I think.
