LSX454 swapped 95 BASS burb.

Little lower, little cooler, bigger sounds.
Well, I tried starting it this morning when I got home from work... -11*F ... It didn't start, and the lift pump wouldn't shut off... So I had to stand out in the cold and disconnect both batteries :doah:.
Good thing you got a few fat blocks to have reliable transportation.

Holly hell, -11...
Yeah it would be hard to start it without some help.

My 6.2 started every time I hit the key for 4 years. :dunno:. I just assumed this would be similar lol

It's similar if you have the same condition.
Maybe this engine is not as good as your 6.2.
Also the 6.2 has a higher compression ratio so as long as you spin it enough it will start easier.

This truck has 405,000 miles and the other had 130,000. Lol. So yeah, there was a slight wear difference :D.

I hooked the batteries back up and got it running. I'm starting to think it may need a rebuild. Oil pressure is good, but it makes noises I haven't heard in other diesels. Im just not sure.... I'll try and get it on vid, but when I start it it comes up and runs for a little bit (30-40 sec) making the usual rattles/clanks.... Then its like it flips a switch and the sound changes all at once.. it goes into full rattle mode. Once there it sounds like that till the next morning when it's cold again. I mean cold as in not ran in a while, not weather cold.

The 2 sounds are distinctly different. And it switches from one to the other in a blink. ... Maybe that's the norm for these :dunno: bit I didn't remember it from the only other 6.5 I ever drove... (Truck at work 20 years ago)

Balancer new and no vac pump. Maybe its normal..:dunno:

Found the rattle in the rear..

Both sides are the same way

And then I also seen this. :doah:. Hopefully all it needs is a good snuggin.

I've been looking for lowering parts for this. And I wanted to go 4" front, 2-3" rear. Looking for spindles, and every single one I find says "only works with 6 lug hubs", Which I don't believe they even offered with a 2500 lol.
Would the C3500 spindles of the same year work?

That fuel line leak was almost like sabatage... I turned one side in 2½ turns by finger. Then another half with wrench.

And he had told me it had newer shocks on it. They actually only put one bushing in the lower eye on each side... :dunno:. I had some leftovers laying around so I put them in a bit ago. It makes so much less noise when driving now lol.

Front end about to get some love.

More on the way. Plus a headlight/signal lens set.

And many stereo components are already here.... With more of that still on the way.

I found out why happens when these are broken.

I needed to change the headlight assembly do to the others having water in them, and getting chalky. So I went with a whole front light/marker kit.
And finally got the pitman, idler, idler bracket, and both tierods replaced.

A few more maintenance items and I'll be ready to start in on the lowering and appearance things.

Forgot the lights pic....

And sh1ts about to get LOUD. :saweet:
That amp is conservatively rated. It'll do a clean 5000 rms. And has been amp dyno'd at burst hits of 17,000 watts.

Seen your post on the rattle noise after it starts. Sounds kinda like the cold timing advance on the 6.2 injection pumps. Changes the timing when the engine is cold. Not sure on the 6.5 but I'm sure it's something like that in the electronic controls for the pump.

I started paying more attention to it, and it does sound like it's supposed to be there now. And yes only does it cold.

So far so his thing makes me real happy. I have a bunch of 25 year old small parts to fix. But it's mainly dumb things... Rear passenger door still don't open, interior panels coming loose, rear heat fan motor makes a noise, etc...

I figured I'll tackle the panels when doing the stereo. And fix anything behind them along the way.
