LSX454 swapped 95 BASS burb.

Little lower, little cooler, bigger sounds.

All bushings and mounts are new. U joints are too.
Well, less than 2 years and no more than 5k miles anyway.

The stutter on the datalog could actually be wheel hop/spin because it's only a 1 mph bump each time.
 
Everytime the pinion goes up and down even if the wheel speed remains the same it would cause the driveshaft speed to fluctuate at the same rate.
 
Sounds like I need to get the cal tracks in, THEN diagnose chit. Lol.
Maybe the extra torque to the ground instead of being eaten up in spring wrap will help it break free :thinking:

FYI you can flush your trans by pulling a cooler hose and getting it set up in a bucket and then just run it to pump fluid out while pouring fluid in at the same time. Or get fancy and set one output hose up in a drain bucket and a suction side in a new bucket and just let it flush itself.
 
A U-joint that's not bad can cause a rattling noise from the angle being off. Many have noted it after lifting their truck. Normally you notice it on decel, probably because the decel/acel of the U-joint elliptical orbit is rattling the slop in the driveline. Does this rig have slop during the shift? It doesn't seem like it, but I've heard stranger things.
 
There is a little bit of slop maybe, OD of the drive shaft might spin 1/4" or something. I need to recheck my backlash now that the new gears have taken some use and abuse.

I've done the bucket flush trick many times, works great, but I think the return just pumps it to the gears. I don't think there is any suction to use, have you done that and it works?

I usually just dump it into the fill tube while it pumps it out. If I can't keep up I am ready to shut if off immediately if it starts getting air bubbles. I haven't done that with anything new enough to not have a dipstick for obvious reasons.

I agree, I think that is what is doing it, but not the u-joint, the pinion climbing and then immediately dropping from spring oscillations can do the same thing. Either that or the shock bushings, something is rattling when the pinion does that, could be slop somewhere in the drivetrain or the suspension.

I think for the u-joint to be doing it it would have to stay at the wrong angle, not bounce back and forth.

Same. I guess you're right on no suction, just pushing the fluid through. Didn't think of that.
 
I actually debated making a bucket with a valve on the bottom that I could set on the core support and doing a flush like you guys are saying. Then just started dropping and filling because I wasn't sure if a quick flush till clean came out would get the stuff in the converter or not.

If I ever do it again I'll probably try that.
 
I tried laying under my truck and filming the drive shaft play.
And bad chit happened with my body.
Lost all equilibrium and couldn't stand.
It'll be a while I guess before anything else happens with it.
That scares the hell out of me and I still don't quite feel the right.
 
It's all related to the dissected artery in my neck.
No idea what happened. I stagger stumbled out of the shop to the neighbors place and he helped me into a chair. Sitting around for a while made me come back to, but it was scary for sure.
 
What I did, was lay down to get a vid of the driveshaft play. And while I was there I figured I'd torque the pinion carrier bolts.

Had to reach above my head (on my back)to push up on the wrench. I got the first one to click, tried putting it on the second one and couldn't seem to line it up. Finally got it, noticed I felt slightly weird but for some reason pushed on the second one.
By the time it clicked I knew something was wrong and tried to get up.
Immediately fell against my burb, then took a step and crashed into the lift post.
Leaned against the burb to get around it and put the door.staggered in a near fall to the neighbors trelless, then down to bang on the side window.
Made it to the side door and was basically sliding down the wall when he came out cause I couldn't stand.

Every limb worked fine individually, and I could see and hear fine. But I couldn't make my legs chit work together.

Already have an appointment Wednesday at the neurologist in Iowa city. So I just have to get to that.



Maybe a blood pressure thing, being on thinners..?
 
As long as you didnt have a stroke.

Necks can do some strange stuff in blood flow gets restricted. And can get restricted by certain movement.

Dissected artery in my neck, happened a few weeks ago.
They said take them or have a stroke, and you still might. So I've been off work because the nurse there said it would be bad for an industrial electrician in a chemical plant to have a stroke on the job. Lol.
I've had a headache for about 5 weeks, and now I'm getting loss of equilibrium spells.
But since I don't have signs of stroke, they aren't even looking farther into it.

The best hospital in a 2 hr drive radius.

Did you get a datalog of it?

You have engine RPM, intput speed, and output speed, so you can see what is slipping.

With a dominator you can do channel math and create converter slip and clutch slip channels.

The Terminator X can't do that I don't believe, but you can still see the data. I just change the scales until the data overlaps, then you can see where it doesn't match.

Some converter slip is normal when not locked, especially down low, and some momentary clutch slip on initial gear change is normal.

Other than that, there shouldn't be any clutch slip.

The caltracs will definitely reduce wheel hop and improve traction, but not burnouts. :D

The rattle at 1:20 is the valvetrain/spark knocky sound when it almost dies. Rpm dropped to about 400 and caught its self there like it does sometimes. Usually accompanied by that rattle.

Did they do a D- dimer test?
