LSX454 swapped 95 BASS burb.

Little lower, little cooler, bigger sounds.
It's definitely the injectors. I got out the stethoscope just now and touched to everything. Injectors are making that sound, some louder than others.
Loudest being the #1 and #7.
With the scope on the valve cover it's super quiet. So that's good. Touching the intake bolts I could hear it but not even close to actually touching an injector

Starting to think about gears now.
I decided to stay with the tire size I have I think, just because I have 3 pairs already.
2 brand new pairs, and 1 nearly new pair. So plenty of meat to burn off lol. (If I get it to burnout :doah: )
And because that diameter looks good with the fender opening.

This is where I'm at right now

And these are the choices I'm going over.
Top is what I was contemplating if I did drop tire size. Rest are what I'm mulling over now.

Only thing scaring me off of the 4.56 is if I DID change tire size later.
I would like to semi tour in this and maintained 3000 rpm probably wouldn't hurt an LS. But that number just looks crazy. Lol.

Got bored and swapped bumpers today.

Took this one missing a bump pad and having the big odd square holes off, and put on the one I snagged from the 96 I just scrapped.

Those big square holes = diesel bumper

Yeah. They fit my fog lights I never installed perfect too. But I didn't like the two bumper pads, and the fact it was missing one. Plus the fog lights in there would have looked dumb on a street truck.

Started out I was just going to swap the lower valance over. Then turned into a MAW

Never have too much light. Like a pistol, it's better to have it and not need it...

I'm going to find different ones that will go in the lower valance openings.
The through the bumper way looked more Baja truckish. And this will be lowered and such. Plus the bumpers may get painted yet in the grand scheme of things, and then they'd have REALLY stuck out .
I tried my azz off to figure a way to turn those bumper holes into ram air ports lol. Just wasn't any way to plumb it without making a full custom radiator support.
Doable sure, but not at this stage. And probably not enough benefit for the effort.

Everything good so far. Happy with myself over all. First ever semi performance engine build.

Something I realized though...... I got it all together and have been running it with the antifreeze the truck recommended, not the engine I put in it :doah:

So now I have to flush and swap to dexcool. I'm hoping I don't have any compatibility issues doing so.

On another note, somewhere during the swap I screwed up my heater. Another :doah:
I had it paired down to all the wires going through the passenger firewall hole as ECM related. Guess not. So now I have absolutely nothing at the heater. No fan, won't flop the flaps, etc.
More wiring to do lol.

Don't mix the Dexcool with the regular, it causes issues. Run one or the other, flush it good and don't mix.

I'd just run the regular for a few years and then flush and swap. You don't have to have long life coolant in it, at least get your life out of the coolant you have in it.

I wasn't sure if it'd mess it up being the wrong stuff. My grandma's car went acidic and ate a bunch of the engine internals.

I won't mix it. But figured even flushing it wouldn't get everything, and possibly still be like mixing. :dunno:

I'll run it for now I guess. And maybe start gathering coolant to do it twice.
Flush, run it a couple days, flush and then fill for the long haul.

Never actually learned what makes dex cool different.

My grandma's had been a flood car, fluids changed, possibly to the wrong one, and it ate the aluminum parts from inside out.

This. Throwing away good coolant in order to gain longer life just doesn't make sense. The stuff you have will last for years to come. If you decide you want dexcool, you can swap it out when this coolant is due for flushing.

Never actually learned what makes dex cool different.

Dexcool uses acidic additives, so it tends to have more acidity issues than conventional coolant.

Additives aside, both dexcool and the cheap green stuff use the same ethylene glycol base, and they will perform similarly from a thermal perspective.

It's just that dexcool dissolves stuff while it lives out its extended lifespan. :doah:

Stuff I got is red but not dex cool

Soon as I can line up someone with a camera and their own getaway car, I'll get video lol.

I put the smaller tires from the front on finally. You can plainly see why they'd break free easier lol
