LSX454 swapped 95 BASS burb.

Little lower, little cooler, bigger sounds.
It could have done it in a blip that DIDN'T show up on the dash or log. :dunno:

But every time it's done it, including when I stayed in it and let it bounce of the limit for a while in frustration, it's always been at th 6300-6400 spot and never shown above that.
Didn't log the time I held it to check gauges, but the dash never showed more than that. Maybe a blink into 6500.
I understand some limiters kind of soft limit when you get close, but they still allow you to get where it's set. I couldn't. Now, like I say, it only was ever noticed flooring it through the 1-2. Where I know I had slippage.
I don't think I ever left it in first and just tried to get to 6800 lol.

The biggest thing about it is still. Like I've mentioned a few times, it didn't trip the limit 400 rpm early before that transmission was in it :dunno:
Nothing changed except a larger displacement engine, and a crappy transmission.

I keep thinking I tried that last summer before the trans died. Had it at 71-72 or something. But I can't remember.
If I did I'd have probably posted that I did. But I don't feel like looking for it lol.
I'm not going to worry about it now until it's back on the road.
I get the feeling I'm going to lose some good driving time with it this year unfortunately.:notworthy:.

I don't want it back on the road till it's painted.
I have a lot of work to do, and still working OT to cover a guy.

I'm hoping to get a good few days on the body again here. Thursday I can wake up relatively early and I have until bed time to work on it :woot:.

Friday I can do more of the same, except I'm going to a party for a while that evening. So no idea what time I'll cut off, or if I'll go back up there after:dunno:

Should be able to get the driver's side done and get it in the other bay and on stands , ready for the passenger outer rocker phase.

It's all tacked. All the plug welds along 3 sides are done. It's just the top edge needs finished now.
Should be easy to do in a few hrs.

Might get back up there tonight. But I at least got this farIMG_20260312_172150370_MP.jpg

I welded this one out with half inch tacks instead of spots.
Playing on the .024" wire.but it was definitely too much lol.
It warped it more than the other side, but still not bad.. this coat will smooth it all.

..... :woot:
Fuggin visible progress finally.
Still have pin holes in the filler and such to take care of. But MUCH better now than it was lol.
Now I'm out of sandable high build though..

So I guess I'm done for the night.:dunno:
Out of beer anyway lolIMG_20260312_194346316_MP.jpgIMG_20260312_195729056_HDR.jpgIMG_20260312_195748995_MP.jpg

Going to use some glazing putty to take care of the pin holes, and lightly shape the body roll to the left of them a tad.
It's the only noticable semi flat spot in the body line there.

Oh.... Also, I went up about midnight and work d on it for a while.
Put that glazing putty on, then cleaned the shop.
After about an hr or 2, I felt it and seen it was set.
So my dumb ass went to sanding like it was bondo:whistle:

I may have ripped a big azz chunk out of the center of where I built up the flat spot:doah:.
Forgot glaze takes a day to fully cure.... Whoops lol.
Back at it tomorrow I guess.

Found out tonight is my last OT night for a while. So I get all my normal days off back starting Tuesday.
Already told the wife its crunch time. My shop days off are my days for a while. Just like if I was working the OT.
Smoothed it out by adding that the faster I get this on the road, the sooner we start on her car :thumb:

The pickup truck wheel arch I bought with my fingers crossed, does work perfect. :thumb: IMG_20260314_150453754_MP.jpg

Goal for Tuesday is get this trimmed down and tacked in.

I also got this cleaned up, and I figured MAW and coated it with rust converter :dunno:

Hoping, by Wednesday night, this side will be in primer.
REAL soon, I need to find a rear driver's door.
If you could buy replacements if purchase a new one. With as popular as these are getting, and as many crewcab trucks as there are out there in this body, I have no idea why nobody makes one:doah::dunno:

I have scrapped a few, didn't think there would be shortage of them.
I still have a crew cab and a suburban

That's what pisses me off.
I had a full set of 99.9% rust free doors and scrapped the whole works... Knowing I would need one some day, and that I was keeping this truck for many many years. :doah:

Every time my eyes skim past that door the back o of my brain says "DUMBASS". In a Red Foreman voice lol.
