M1008 Cucv Ls Swap Cadolet Build, long range Blazer Bash 2026 prep

Converting my M1008 from 6.2 Diesel to LQ9 power
You can get a picoscope to work with your laptop pretty cheap to diagnose signaling issues, etc.

I have one, was not to expensive, and fast enough for most automotive stuff. I don't use it often, but when I do, it works very well and quite intuitive.

Basically a bare bones quality 2 channel oscilloscope

I've also used it to measure cycle times of relays since it is 2 channel. You can monitor the input and output at the same time.

But its not 8 or 20 channel like I used to use for diagnosing all coils and cam and crank sensors at the same time. But those cost $20K and we owned by Chrysler.

This was maybe $120 with 2 wires or something.

Will this help me figure out my Vss issue?

It will let you see the signal coming from the VSS or to the computer. If you can solve it with that info then yes.

The first time I used it, was because my speedo was not reading the output on my Holley. So I looked at the output and the speedo wasn't pulling the Holley output down close enough to ground to read it, so I added a 1K ohm pulldown resistor and it solved my problem, everything worked then.

Data logging is cool. I ran the truck around after I fixed my VSS issue and my tuner says the truck is running a little lean and he will help me tune it to make it a little better soon. he thinks its either the MAF or a Volumetric Efficiency table. I'm new to all this so I'm not sure.

More than a little lean. But data logging is a good thing

I'm beginning to build my list of to do's for Blazer Bash. It's a big list. I'll post it tomorrow.

Meanwhile some parts arrived for the M1008. New shock mounts from ORD. One of my upgrades will be new shocks also. I want to get these powder coated instead of spray painting them. 20250110_212306.jpg20250110_221631.jpg

Prep is key, don’t be afraid to go over it. I usually pull my truck off the road july 4th and drive it a few days before loading it on the trailer. I over check every nut and bolt and race prep it.
