M1008 Cucv Ls Swap Cadolet Build, long range Blazer Bash 2026 prep

Converting my M1008 from 6.2 Diesel to LQ9 power
Prep is key, don’t be afraid to go over it. I usually pull my truck off the road july 4th and drive it a few days before loading it on the trailer. I over check every nut and bolt and race prep it.
I definitely plan on that, I have a feeling I'll be tinkering on it till August the put a trip to Chico and back on it for a 1400 mile trip beofre the drive to Moab. I do have the 200 mile tow with AAA. I don't plan to ever use it. My pitbull rockers love to make my truck shake at 75 mph bit it's good at 70.

Don't say that, in my 22 years having AAA and last 10 years with 200 miles tow, I only didn't use it one year, half were for other people and half mine.
Used it this year a week before Thanksgiving to bring my Mercedes home from socal

I understand what you mean things will happen, I just hope I don't need it.

Well I think tires just moved up to top priority. I have dry rot on 10 year old tires. I was thinking of going with Milestar tires, I have them on my Escalade and I like them. but I'm not sure if i want Mud Tires or the Extreme AT. I don't like mud but will a AT tire be enough for the weather in Oregon?

I cant add a poll option but please give your thoughts if you have any. Im leaning more towards the XT All Terrain

The Old Tires below.

Shock length discussion

between 24 and 27" bilsteins

Consider a few things:

Stretching the suspension and getting a good number. Add another 1.5" for violent compression or axle wrap
Axle wrap driving the pinion down, needing more stretch if you have one spring completely compressed
compression so that if you drop down at speed you still have another 1.5" or so

I have 27" shocks and 52 springs
I had to add limit straps

You may want to look at adding/changing/adapting to run the longer shock

Consider also the front driveline length.
Full compression and violent full compression is a difference of about 2" in length and slip
It will punch the case off the transmission
4" slip won't cut it. most of mine were 10" slip

I installed some PWM ( Pulse Width Modification Harness) inline with my LED headlights, hopefully this will fix my flickering head lights.

Be careful, when I worked as an engineer for the DOD they painted a lot of stuff with that CARC paint, and there was a lot of safety equipment used, I feel like they even wore oxygen or something not to breath the fumes in, protect your lungs. The substitute might not be as bad, but still, be careful.

Oh illl wear full ppe when I am sanding and painting. Carc is bad shit.

So I have a track lok from a M1028. I know it's not a locker. But I want a little better than a open front diff for balzer bash. I've never done anything like it before. I understand I need put my gear ring on it. Is this a job for. A diff shop or can I do it my self. If I do this is it worth upgrading to 35 spline outer axle shafts?
