M1009 Standard Shift Build(The Greatest Adventure)

Stupid SM465? I'm thinking its more likely the lack of rpm/power out of that diesel. Time for a turbo :deal:

Hooray for finally finding some Internet out here! Gotta head out to Californy land...

Kellyjohn mentioned an overdrive unit used as an underdrive to get better rpms. I want to look into that more first.(8speed :)My axle gearing is great on flat highway so I don't really want to regear.

A Ranger Overdrive? Advance Adapters sells them. I don't know if they still make the underdrive version. I thought one of them would be badass.

I haven't been updating this as I should so I'm going to try to catch up a little.

I obviously drove my truck out to the dunes. At deulings I got a new heavy duty track bar put on from ord. I used a clamp from Poly Performance to mount my steering stabilizer. This bracket should leave me setup to run hydro assist in the future.

Synergy Suspension Outer Diameter (OD) Tube Clamp
Part # PPM-3112-06

I really like the design because it keeps the bolt heads out of harms reach, unlike the ubolt style ord and other people sell.

The brackets were easy to weld on.

The next thing we worked on was getting my tna bumper and my winch mounted up.

In order to accomplish this; new holes were drilled for the winch feet, a new whole was cut for the fairlead with kellyjohn's expert torching (I know its a plasma in the picture, but the plasma couldn't handle the cut so he switched over) skills, a plate that came with my winch was welded on the bumper to cover up the old fairlead hole.

I don't think I posted up before, but I bought a 9500lb mile marker hydraulic winch from government liquidation. It came in a crate with everything to mount it up in the rear of a hummer. I haven't hooked up the lines yet, but with a big thanks to kellyjohn, the winch is mounted.

How are you liking the x-over steering?

I have a terrible turning radius right now. I need to take my reid knuckle back out and get it machined down and tapped to put in some adjustable steering stops.

I want more pics of you traveling the country. (No not specifically of you)

You lucky Bastid

All the changes made my truck miserably out of alignment. I had it to a shop out by deuling and they put in balljoint shims. It is better, but not good. When I go around corners and hit bumps at the same time at highway speed my truck gets this funny whoop whoop thing going and the steering moves around a little. It is a little nerve racking every once in awhile. Overall, I haven't really noticed any difference in the actual steering except that I have less of it. Even with the new jeep column I have some play in my wheel.

I forgot my camera cord at home, but I have some iphone pics I will be throwing up shortly. Here's a teaser...

my internet still isn't top notch, pic won't upload

We also got the cucv brush guard mounted up. Kellyjohn whipped out brackets in 20 minutes or less. I am really happy with how everything turned out.

Damn you've had nothing but problems with that Reid knuckle.

Truck looks good btw. Keep the updates coming

I was hoping to upload some pano pics, but no luck. I'll going to start with some dune pics and then get some co. pics going.

I camped at wally world on the way out in Pennsylvania.

I have spent more money trying to get it to work right than I did on the knuckle. Almost twice as much at this point. By the time I get the thing machined I think I will be in over $1000 because of the stupid thing.

Good stuff Rich :waytogo:

So am I correct in assuming that you are with out top on your travels ( cant bring myself to ask if your "topless") ? :D
