M1028- [under new management]

other side. John gives me a hard time about my pinion angle. Again, don't mind the driveshaft hanging there, it's just to keep my fluid from draining out.

OK. got rid of the round spacers under the carrier Xmember and replaced them with some plate. also raised up the transfer case off of it's Xmember one inch. that should keep the angle of my primary shaft happy.

It is for now! I didn't get any pics of the finished product but I went and did some clearance testing with my dog, kid, and buddy Ryan. I'll try to get some pics of it tomorrow. I think it turned out pretty slick.

Subscribed because I like army trucks! What's the yellow truck with the white walls?

some perspective in regard to ground clearance. I'd still like to get the rear crossmember up a little higher if I can, but this is how it currently sits.

Oh yeah you should be fine! My frame doesnt have that raised portion! Looks good man!:thumb:

Thanks! That's my other project. 47 Chevy 3100. I bought clips and figured out a way to run the stock caps on those Chevy rally wheels, but I need some rally center caps to cut up.

I don't have any decent pics of the front, though it's not bad.. I just need to take a couple leaves out so it matches the back. Tires are L78s.

I had envisioned the lower bar being closer to coplanar with the driveshaft, but I couldn't make it happen without turning the lower axle mount into a snag liability.. I had also envisioned a more gradual bend in the tubing, but that was the only die he had. Hopefully this "sharp" bend won't flex and negate the whole point if having a torsion bar. Maybe it needs some little gussets or something.

Bump for the New owner of this.

I'm here now. Just read the thread. I bought it at the right time. Pretty much done and just a few tweaks needed to make it 100%.

John and I wheeled it a bit Saturday and it did pretty good. Dropped the carrier bearing 3/8" and the vibration is better. Going to space down the carrier bearing subframe with 1/2" plate. That should preload the torque arm a bit and improve U-joint angle.

You Nebraska boys just pop outa nowhere all the time :haha:

Welcome. Glad it got sold to someone that will keep us posted on it. Why'd it go up for sale anyways?

He wants to build a SCCA a 68 truck he has.

John will wheel it, something we couldn't get Mike to do.

Doubt I will make the 10/12 trip but I'd like to do Tuttle the end of October or in November. Think you can swing a trip that soon after getting back from western NE?

Hey now... Whenever I did anything with it I posted about it.. But thats half the reason I decided to let it go. I think I literally drove it once since the friday before memorial weekend when I thought I was going to make it to Tuttle.

There's just too much going on in my life right now, and when push comes to shove, I had a lot of blood and sweat invested into this truck, but my 68 is what I learned how to drive in with my grandpa, and it's my true passion.

I can't think of a better guy to let it go to; I know John will enjoy it and improve upon what I've always considered a pretty solid starting point.

It's been a good run, boys!

Guess now I should open an account on SCR lol.
