Max`s 02 lb7 Sold.upgraded to 2012 LML

Nice day here today +2c.
Tested the batteries with a multi meter checked the oil pumped the primmer 6 times and she fired up like a champ. Drove it a couple miles just to get everything warmed up. Kind of miss driving the old 02.

Last time I drove it was end of January it was fine but when I shut it off it wouldn’t start no matter what I tried. It did start the next day with a lot of effort because I couldn’t get the fuel to prime properly, but it did start and has been parked ever since.
Today I was bored and wanted to see what would happen. ;)

I'm curious what you are doing for a tune to turn all the crap off?

Any Diesel shops around here clam up quick when you even say the word "delete" to them.

I bet! Lol

It’s EFI live single tune that was wrote in-house at the shop with 40 hp added. That’s all I know.
4” Flowpro with a muffler.
Sound is awesome now and no lag on the bottom end. Actually it woke it up a ton.

One thing I noticed that was really nice is how cool the hood is now after a drive. Before the hood would be hot to touch even after the truck was sitting for an hour or more.

Fuel mileage will be interesting after we all get done test driving it!

The whole DEF/Regen exhaust treatment program is IMO the worst boondoggle in automotive emissions history. From pick-ups like this all the way up to the heavy trucks that use it.

Let's remove the cost from the conversation. Let's remove the "heat" issues. Here is my observation through a few generations of exhaust treatment on heavy trucks. I drive a garbage truck daily and have for 12 years now. The first trucks I drove were as old as a '96 to a 2004 model when in BC. The old trucks without Regen/DEF stuff would average anywhere from 85 to 110 litres of diesel per day. The first generation of after treatment used diesel as the after treatment 'fluid'. These trucks used 135 to 160 litres per day. my current rig is a 2013 Pete, and it uses DEF. That truck uses anywhere up to 220 litres of fuel per day.

So burning double the fuel is better for the environment? nobody talks about the acrid smoke these trucks give off when doing a burn either...

Wholeheartedly agree.
That has always been my argument.
If all this crap reduces emissions by 25% and you use twice as much fuel how is that better

Its utter crap for sure. But even today they don't have a better solution for the emissions so we move forward with the same crap on the new stuff.

It's no surprise to anybody around here when a '21 sets codes for anything in the emissions systems.

All that matters to the feds/greenies is the black soot is eliminated and less nox output. How we get there don't matter to them.

No difference than forcing crappy ethanol laden fuel on us. Sure it adds oxygen to the fuel for cleaner emissions but we have to use more than straight gasoline so we are helping the environment by using more of it? Not to mention using more smacks in the face of the idea of using less foreign oil.

Officially at my shop I don't promote doing deletes because I have to. But I don't deny the gains you get when it's done. We won't work on them though due to the problems we've run into with these "black market" tunes causing issues we can't fix.

Decided to try and sell the old 02.
Started cleaning it up today. Drove it around the backroads for about a hour yesterday. Man I’ll tell you after driving that truck for the last 20 years I sure still love it!
But it just sits and I really don’t have a good use for it.
See what happens if I get low balled I’ll keep it.

Is the used diesel truck market as crazy up there as it is down here? Any diesel especially the pre dpf ones are going for like double what they actually should go for. It's nuts what people are paying. I see 6.0L powerstrokes listed for as high as $20k.

Yeah it’s stupid here too.

Shitty thing is mine I’m sure needs at least one injector and the frame is rusted more than I like. I could fix it for probably 1000.00 but I just don’t feel like fixing it and having it sit.
We don’t need it ,and if it’s having problems it’s easier for me to say goodbye.

Other thing that sucks is I’m honest so I’ll have to sell it cheep or I’ll feel like a asshole.

It is a clapped out truck... it owes us nothing.

Be honest but don’t cut your nose off to spite your face. These trucks are going for premium prices so I’d look around and see what others are priced at and go from there.
For sure.
Thanks.

Out here everyone deletes their new trucks, we can still get away with it, so they aren’t worth as much as in the States.

I'm going through the motions of selling my Dodge... Told this dude a price and I thought I was high and he didn't even balk at it. Mine needs a tailgate (dented), a windshield and brakes all around and I feel bad even selling it like that, but I am going to get almost what I paid for it 50k and four years ago....

A guy came to look over the 02 today. Took it for a test drive. Then it would not start again…. I think it wants to live with me forever! :haha:

Sold my 02 today.

62 year old mechanic bought it. He new what the problem was with it without me saying and is going to fix it. Gave me cash 500 less, then asking price.

We drank beer and smoked cigarettes laughing entire time. Couldn’t have went better!
