Max`s 02 lb7 Sold.upgraded to 2012 LML

I've thought about that too, using a typical spin on filter mount...It would be the same as my trans mount and could interchange filters w/ the engine (BBC) as well.

I bought mine on fleetfilters.com, it was way cheaper than napa and was the exact same part, just like in your pic.

Thought about a filter... but I also thought about changing the coolant for the last few years too! :doah:
Would be a good idea though.

BTW, nice looking truck! I want a duramax bad, just can't swing it right now.....

If this doesn't make you really want to change your coolant, Don't know what will :D
I just did mine since I was replacing the radiator:

Old vs new.

Coolant filter installed, the brass fittings cost more than the filter and housing....

I wonder about placement of such a filter....seems like most solids would tend to find a low lying place. I think it would be hard to keep them in suspension to get them to a filter, especially if its in a heater hose?
Any comments?

All the ones I`ve seen on the Diesel Place are mounted up high like that...mostly for ease of placment in a Duramax im sure.

The guys say that it works great.

There's some pics posted of guys who cut their filters open and there's a good bit of s#!t in them. Thats what sold me plus all the sand that came out of my block. They say it kills water pumps.

yesterday when I was changing the water pump I noticed the upper ball joint on the front drivers is toast, heard it pop Friday driving in the bank parking lot at - 30c. :doah:

So that will be my fun for today.:D

Well at least I`m lucky that way Rene...floor heat rules! :thumb:

I just wish I could have done the pump job out side yesterday...made quite a mess on the floor that took a hour to clean up.

The ball joint will be cake to do after I finally go to the parts shed and dig out the spare upper control arm.

Heated shop does rock Dean!
Glad the w/p went well
My 6.0 was about an 1.5 hr job all done!
Good luckon the susp arm

Dean!!

I just found a brand new AC Delco water pump and gasket set for an LB7 sitting on the shelf in my shop the other day.

I was thinking I should call you and ask if you wanted it... And forgot. Sorry!

Changed my upper control arm yesterday... easy job turned into a big pain, one of the bolts snapped in half and was frozen into the bushing, had to break out the sawsall and angle grinder with a cutting blade to get it out! :doah:

Sure glad I bought that parts truck from you Russell, sure came in handy to have extra bolts. :thumb:

Than after I was finished with the ball joint project...Kris drove the truck to her mom and dads place, comes back and tells me the battery light is on! WTF
Alternator was only charging 12 amps:doah: "I tested it" off to Reddeer we go! While driving to the parts store the light would go off every once in a while ,so when I got to a nice flat dry spot on the road I floored it.

Well... if that didn`t fix it! :dunno: Started to charge like normal and the light goes off.

We got a new one anyway, got home installed it and broke the water temp sender in two! :eek1: A little epoxy and that is back together.

What is next!!??:haha::haha: All in all I was glad we had the weekend off cause I spent most of it in the garage rolling around with my truck. Lol!

That pump you got Russell... doesn`t it fit lb7/lly and lbz?? Thanks for thinking about me anyways! :haha::thumb:

Watched the old Dmax turn this the other day.

Still runs just the same as the day we bought it! :thumb:

Ever had to do any major repairs? Injectors?

No! Everyone hacks on the lb7. Mine has been great...I`m the only one that has ever opened the hood.

I used to be on the Diesel Place a lot when I first got the truck and it was post after post about injectors. All it did was make me nervous about it so I quite reading about them and just drive it! :thumb:

The truck has ran on Dyed fuel all its life and I use Howe's fuel conditioner in every tank of fuel. I use the stock filter and change it every 25 thousand Klm`s.

That said it will more than likely blow up next week!! :doah::haha:

How do you like the straight pipe on your truck??
