Max`s 02 lb7 Sold.upgraded to 2012 LML

We finally started the box swap on Dec 27 finished it yesterday.

Took so long because....
Box
Cab corners
Rockers
Spare tire crossmember
Fuel tank crossmember
Fuel sender. 500.00 BTW
Lots of dirt removed from frame
A shit ton of frame prep and paint.
Colby was there helping me with it all.

That's not salt so much as "Range Road" rust. Everything underneath gets sand/gravel blasted to bare metal, and with no protection it only take a little moisture to get the rust started.

Looks good Dean! Does it have new glass yet, or are you guys still driving by braille?

Very true Rene. And Thanks! Yeah we got a new windshield a few months ago...It already has a crack in it. :doah:

The box is one we found off a 03 GMC it was the same colour pewter. The only thing I had to paint was the cab corners and the rockers. I went over them with primer then rock guard and then I had some colour match paint made up at auto body paint supply shop. The paint is a bit darker but it`s ok down on the bottom.

Thanks Jess It turned out good enough we are going to keep it. We can borrow my father in laws 2012 if we need to tow real heavy, and ours will be put on lighter towing and less driving duty.

My wife Kris is getting a 2014 8 speed diesel burning German rally car!

That dealership is one of our customers...and all of us hate that call. lol
 
Sitting in front or our local liquor store with the truck running smelt a bit like burning plastic, took a sniff at the truck looked around for a fir near by?
Went in to the store and bought a box of Neer.
Came out and the truck is shut off!? Kris was sitting in the truck...she smelled it too...but then there was a loud bang and a poof of smoke from the hood!
Well I open the hood and see the problem! The idler for the serp belt decided it needed a holiday!

I pulled the belt out and decided to say F it and just drive it home. 5 miles no ps no alt no fan not much for brakes. Luckily it broke close to home no traffic lights not to much traffic and only one mile to gravel roods the rest of the way home. We drove slowly and everything was fine.

The fist pic is what the pulley should look like...the second is what was left of the old one. No clue where the rest of it ended up. Lol!
