Mountain Truck Build

Pickup seats and Suburban front seats are the same. But not K5 seats.

I'd double/triple check on that before you go investing money on seats. I distinctly remember an article about some Suburbans having a weird hump that the seats mount to (meaning seats are not interchangeable). I don't recall if it's specific years or not. I'll see if I can find the article and post it here...

The ones I am looking at are already in a pickup. Owner claims they are factory buckets. Ill check them out and see.

The HID headlight upgrade was simple and made a HUGE difference. As in wow. Driving light/ low Beam light is an incandescent yellow light. When you hit the high beams its another world of pure white awesome.

HID nation sent the kit and it was plug and play on the gmc. I didn't cut or splice a single wire.

Today was an eventful day. Got all the fluids changed, hit every zerk with the grease gun and went over every part of the undercarriage. Tires are mounted and balanced. Ready to go. Lots of new parts installed to bring everything up to par. Finish it up in the morning I think.

Then the unseen mods will begin!

I think the next round of work will be on the flatbed. I need an over cab rack for the fullsize spare, highlift and a few other things. Then I think the flatbed is going to get shorter with angled corners. LAst but not least a dog box/ tool box combo. We train bird dogs all season and while a standard cab works well for two people, two people and two bird dogs is a little much..

I do need to vent a little. We fought a broken starter bolt broken off by the previous owner today for two hours. Granted he was the grandson of the original owner and A damn kid but it just makes me sick. This kid decided to drill the bolt. Instead of center punching and drilling it straight it was drilled at an extreme angle. So extreme in fact that it drilled through the side of the broken bolt into the threads. Essentially locking it in place. Broke two easy outs trying to get it out before deciding to drill it out completely. Ten minute job turns into a two hour job just like that. I wonder when folks will learn that if they don't know how to do something the best thing is to maybe leave it alone until they can get some help from someone who does.

Flatbeds rule! :saweet: I would like to do a headache rack with a rack for my spare on my duramax if I can make one that looks good.

I feel like I have checked every system on the truck and fixed all the issues that I found. So essentially starting from level plane to now add mods. The tires will be the most obvious. Then rear axle swap, disc brake upgrade. Flat bed work and frame mounted rear winch. Overhead rack and a crew other things. Its getting there.

Don't know yet. I can't find anything wrong. Looks like there are two injectors leaking. One is dripping from the seal the other was the nut. Tightening it helped. Hot its still a slow drip. Looks like its time for seals and o rings.

Winshield wipers went half way up and the fuse popped. New fuse and nothing. Add that to the parts list.

I believe I have a wiper motor that would work for you. Also if you are still looking for the open style front center cap I'm pretty sure Ive got one of those. Let me know if your interested and I'll double check. Does your truck have intermittent wipers or just the old high/low?

Oh and also would you post a link to the HID light kit you got? I would like to do the mod to my 89 Jimmy.

It has the high low with squirter. I got my headlights from HID nation. I'm tickled with it.
