Muddysub's Toyota crawler.

Focking Gnome! I just saw the gnome and instantly thought, oh that's Wade. Though the math of him being a senior in high school in 1985 seemed a little off. I need more sleep I guess.

lol..I can think of worse people to be mistaken for

This is good stuff!!!! Haha!

Just wait for the real episode. The yota gets hers.

I’m looking forward to that one.

I got measuring done and some holes drilled today after knocking out a customer truck at work. It looks like I can stretch the wheelbase 1” without messing with the rear driveline. The way the springs are set up in the photo sets the axle back 1”, doesn’t hurt the departure angle and gives me the option to stretch it another 1.5” if I want to have the driveline retubed. I don’t know how much they’re going to flatten out so I’ll have do tack them in and check with weight on them in the morning.

I have had good success with much shallower shackle angles Scott.

Interesting to see how much they flatten out. Hopefully a bunch

Ok, raptor springs are done and I’m pretty damn happy with them.

I ended up running the springs backwards with the overload turned around. Doing so shortened up the rear end of the spring, helping my departure angle and kept the roller thing on the back end of the spring to prevent axle wrap. The front mount is forward about 5.5” from the old mount and the shackle hanger is moved back 2.5”. The axle moved back about 2” so departure wasn’t hurt too badly. Shackle angle ended up a bit lazy at 52* as the springs flattened out a bunch. It seems to work though, they don’t lay flat at full bump and they don’t invert at full droop. They ride great and articulate better than the old ones, ride height came up a couple inches so the shocks aren’t bottoming out now.
I’ll have to weld in some bump stops to keep the tires out of the flatbed. They always rubbed that angled tube above the tire but it’s worse now as the tire is pushed back, now the tire wants to climb up into the flatbed.
