My 5.3 swap thread!

this will definitely be an information thread to keep for reference.

X2!! i just now looked at this thread for the first time. i gotta say man, you've totally rekindled my desire to drop a 5.3 into my sub.

Yea man for sure! You could come check it out any time or else when i do get it on the road we could meet up someplace.

I thought of that after I posted. I will pm you. My buddy really wants me to hell him do this swap in his CJ. I was thinking i would show him your setup

congrats, about time! now to spend the next month on the little stuff LOL, make it look OEM like I did.

What was your issue with those swap mounts? I've done at least 10 of them now with not a single issue in various vehicles. They are in the exact spot at the bellhousing as the sbc would be.

No issues really. I just feel like the ability to slide the motor back and forth would have been nice. Other then that they worked perfect. And yea, pretty much plan on a good few weeks at least before It's "done".

So for a bit of crazyness, if you view the garage posts by views, this thread is 19th from the top! Crazyer is that its 5th from the top by posts! Like i said before, with those kind of numbers, i expect to see lots more 5.3 build threads on here! :deal:

Nice!

Ok heres the vids. Exhaust is only about 8" past the manifolds. First start is my buddy Scott(Pinsco63) turning the key, Tim running the throttle, me filming. Second is Tim turning the key, Scott running the throttle and me filming. Sounds good and it sounds bad ass!!!! Hope you got your nut cups on, cause your about to get punched in the dick!

:woot:

So Sunday I was walking around the house and the wife asks "why are you walking funny?"
I reply "When we started Mitch's 5.3, I forgot my nut cup and got punched in the dick!"
Needless to say she didn't get it and said we are all immature.:dunno:
Can't get enough of the vids! Good work buddy

I didn't watch the video but congrats to the OP. always feels good when you put something together an things start working.

lol the story behind it goes something like this, After it was all done and we were standing around talking about how neat the LS motors are, somebody mentioned how the LS intake looks bad ass. Then Scott mentioned how it looks like its going to punch you in the dick! We all laughed and then agreed that the LS motors appear to have a desire to punch folks in the dick due to their aggressive attitude!

Yep thats pretty much it, I think there was atleast a few beers involved in there too.

You do anything to it today?

Nope. Woke up too late. I did go out and re evaluate and measure the exhaust stuff. Planning on making a trip to the parts house tomorrow for some pieces.

There's a guy up here in Billings selling a complete 80,000 mile 5.3 out of a 2002 pick em up for $500 and he's willing to ship it. Just sayin'

Well the knock sensors and harness showed up today! Also went and got some exhaust stuff to try and start putting the exhaust together. Also picked up a belt, tensioner pully, and some wire loom. So with that, im pretty much ready to get it all back together and on the road with the exception of a fan and upper radiator hose and final plan on the little coolent line guy.
