Seriously? They mount the ECM on the newer trucks unders the hood? That just seems really dumb. Exposing it to moisture,heat, cold ect. I think your better off mounting that in the cab IMO.

But now that you mention it I think I saw one of those on the driver side fender when I was at the wrecking yard the other day. It was either that or an antilock brake ECM.

I see your point, but with the right inclosure, its as protected as in teh cab. If it was factory mounted under the hood, i wouldn't' worry about it.

Any aftermarket ignition box like MSD, Mallory, Accel, etc. is sealed up to resist water and heat and they're mounted up under the hood all the time. I doubt that the technology to keep those boxes weather tight is exclusive to just the aftermarket.

Got a little closer today! Got the top end pretty close to wrapped up. Intake is back on with the new intake gaskets. Routed much of the wiring. Loomed the wiring that is hidden by the intake before i put the intake on. bolted on the power steering pump and alternator. And put on the new belt and tensioner pully.

EDIT: The wires crossing over the intake near the front are just laying there. They are for the maf, tps,iac,and temp. Just didnt hook them up. So fear not, the wiring is not done so it looks worse then it will be.

This is how I'm going to try and mount mine.

This is on my 07 suburban.
Just picked up the bracket from the dealership. Plan on mounting it to the driverside battery tray.

Valid point but aftermarket parts aren't usually designed to last a lifetime either. If they last through the 1-2 year warranty that's usually good enough.

Looks pretty good to me. You got a welder to weld those exhaust pipes up?

Yea. Not a good one but it works. Just some random brand 110v unit. Flux core just to make sure it looks even worse... Like i said though, i intend for this exhaust to be temporary but last as long as i want it to.

I welded mine up probably doesn't look any better then yours will lol. But it might be more permanent then you think after you go to an exhaust shop and get a quote. They wanted $1k to do my exhaust. So take your time and try welding on some scrap pieces first to get the temp and feed right.

LOL i dont know if it will do burn outs. Thing is a suburban with 33's and 3.73 gears. Lord knows i'll try it though! But yea, i plan on having it at least driveable end of next weekend.

Does the factory LS upper and lower radiator hoses work? I need to start buying my last minute items.

Factory upper hose from a 2000+ truck works. Factory lower hose for whatever your putting it into works with a little trimming.

FYI, dont bother trying the H2 intake ducting. It aint happening and it looks like poo poo.

EDIT: By the way, the 3 piece engine covers are going to take ALOT of modification to work. I think im just going to run a center one for now. I would realy like one like Teck has but i dont know if it will fit my older gen III intake.

EDIT: this is how it looks in an h2. Obviously not going to work out... Thinking a silverado one should work.
