My '70 C/10 - The Rat Bastard... [Won't Idle.]

I can't believe how simple the wiring is on a '70....

I think there's ~50 wires, total... Including the addition of power door locks and windows.
And 2 run the truck... :haha:

Sufficient amount of wire... :D

Gonna make one of these...

To cover a home-brew version of this.... :D

Because this looks easy, compared to some of the stuff I've made... :haha:

I don't get it, you're removing the manual transmission and pedals but going to put in an auto shifter that resembles one :screwy: :dunno:

Aaron (Dremu) was totally right.... That Argent Silver looks amazing.

Occasionally I have my moments. Also, repeat after me the mantra: "When in doubt, don't modify."

I know, on a forum dedicated to wholesale and industrious modification of trucks, it's downright blasphemous ... but as an example, it took me how many years to finally unfsck the brakes on the crewcab, and I did it by returning the thing to stock. :doah:

Well with this truck I wouldn't change much. It has a charm the way it is.
I would do the rear disc though..
The rest I think Mike is going nuts like usual.

You'll love it once its done....

I'm not going too crazy on this one.
Just some sleeper stuff. :D

Aside from the 2200 stall converter, and the ginormous shifter, it'll remain fairly stock.
I even talked to JJ about a dash panel, and some classic gauges.
To get away from the "street racer" look. :D

I'm still undecided on the drop.
I might just send it back, and if I want to do it later,I will. :dunno:

In other news, I got $60 worth of stuff, for $20 at Vato Zone. :D

And, I'm currently installing the heads...
Motor will be done in a couple hours.
It's just a factory rebuild, because the piston bores looked good, and everything else was fine.
Well, not completely factory.... I did do a little work to the heads.
Just a little. :D

Should still put down some great numbers. :D

So did it look like a recent build was done?
I know compression test showed 170 psi when I got it. And it looked clean under the valve cover.
Yeah the 2200 stall tc might not be the best choice for what I think you want out of it but you can always grab a stock one from my pile.:D

Umm.... Well.....

It had overheated a few times.
The push rods, and lifters got a little hot, a couple times.
There was some NASTY crap in the lifter Valley.
I mean FLAT NASTY.

The coolant ports were rusted shut.
I pulled about 1.5 cups of rust out of the block.
So much so, that I was a little afraid to pull it all the way apart,
for fear of a MagnaFlux showing me, what I don't wanna know.

Instead, I took the decent cylinder wall shape as a sign, and left it alone.
It holds compression, the cylinder walls are fine, the pistons look good...
I'm leaving it alone.

I'm gonna piece together a 427.
Not soon, but in ~year.

Then, you can have the 402 back. :thumb:

This 402 should haul a$$.... :D

Something must have happened in the meantime.
It's been sitting there for a couple of years.
That sucks:(
Does it look like water ran into the engine or what?

It was ALL in the bottom of the block.

I ran a rifle brush through all the ports,
and used a combination of shop air and a garden hose to clear the rust.
