My '70 C/10 - The Rat Bastard... [Won't Idle.]

LS swap is easier? It doesn't get much simpler than one of these old carb engines...

Not that the swap is easier.

Wife statement:
"It would be easier to do an LS swap."

Wife translated:
"If you dropped this off at a shop, it would be done right, the first time,
probably on deadline, and with no headaches for you.

he'd at least be getting pops ya'd think....

Yea.... I know the symptoms of all the could-be's.
Its ridiculous, but Im pretty well versed in big chevy issues at this point. :haha:

The motors acting as though it couldn't care less to start.
Which is troubling, to say the least.

One, uhh, really dumb thought. You might run the hot lead for the HEI straight to the battery. I'm wondering if the wiring harness or ignition switch or ... whatever ... is keeping it from going *reliably* live in both start and run, or something.

Anyway, that would bypass a bunch of things as possible culprits.

^This. :doah:

I called EZ-wiring to confirm my wiring, etc.
The tech said, all is well.

I swapped out the china ICM for a Premium ICM.
Mainly because I didnt trust the China one.
Im still getting an orange spark.
Its freaking baffling, to me.

Well.. ****.
I pulled the plugs and gapped them down to 40 from 50.
Now, with a plug pulled and grounded, It goes blue,yellow,blue,yellow...
But not even a fart from the engine... :dunno:

Once I got intermittent blue spark, I sprayed some start fluid down the carb.
Still nothing.

Did the motor just take a sh*t, overnight?

LOL. There's this guy at work who may be channelling that motor ... or maybe it's channelling Colin...

Dude this thing really is a rat bastard. It hates you drop it back off with the po

The PO at least offered to stop by and help (Iceman is the PO, you know :) )

Flexplate is bent....

Jeebus. Add that to the list of Things I Would Not Have Thought To Check. Is that from whanging it with the bad starter, or ... ?

No clue.... But, its got a slight 'wobble'.
Not as major as the youtube videos I watched, but it ain't straight.

Paul, could this be causing my non start?

As long as the starter is turning the motor fast enough then a tweaked flexplate isn't the problem
