My 72 blazer

It's been great. I drive it every chance I get, but work from home, so that is mostly cruising around town.

Did two trail camping trips this year, one up by Norcal69(Mike) oustide Red Bluff/Chico and then another between Truckee and Nevada City.

Also hit up Cow Mountain OHV again between Ukiah and Clearlake with a couple of friends. As far as I know that's the closest off-roading to me.

I have not done anything exciting to the rig...replaced body mounts...finished up the body work on the passenger rear fender and tried to paint match as good as rattle-can will get.

This summer project on the rig is to install a cheap fuel injection kit I bought off ebay and am going to see how it will do. It's a holley 2d. I read a lot about it and know it only handles up to a certain amount of hp and am not expecting night and day difference from the carb, but hope it works well for my truck.

Here are a couple pics from my travels:

My little man, Zeke, sleeping on our trip between Truckee and Nevada City:

Can't go wrong with the red hair! He is pretty awesome.

And thanks on the compliment...though my blazer aspires to be more like yours!

Love the pics man. It's awesome that you get to go out and use yours.

Gonna be up this way again any time soon?

I definitely want to, but not sure when. Would like to get up in the feather river area, head over to plumas eureka too. Just today got fuel injection working on it...an old holley kit. Need to button it up and get it tuned. And the second boy is due on the 31st...but I have been itching to get out in some sort of wilderness.

When I read that Sean was riding back with you, it popped in my head that it would be cool if it could work out to meet another from the brotherhood and see you guys work on your rig (sometimes aka drink neers). I don't have much to offer in terms mechanical experience but my neer fetching skills are adequate.

Dude, we don't need Sean for that. I'm up in the garage Saturday,Tuesday, Friday, Monday, Wednesday, Sunday and some Thursdays. You can help me any of those days with that unique skill set. :waytogo:

Really, we should be rolling back into town ~around the 3rd. I think that he flies out on 5th or something.

You know my garage is always open to the brotherhood. It would be great to see ya again. :thumb:

hinges

So I had a bit of play on my passenger side door and people had a tough time getting in and out...so I went to the local Chevy dealer parts counter and ordered up some brass bushings and replacement pins.

We'll after a long process of just getting the stinking pins out of the hinges the door was just not going to get back on and aligned with that fender on...so one thing led to another and I found myself here:

The benefit of all this was it sure made it a heck of a lot easier to get the new heater core installed. Had it sitting in the wings for about 2 months or so.

But now its back together and that passenger door sure opens and closes so much better. Just these little projects make me so much more aware of how amazing all the other builds are on ck5.

Taking it apart did reveal some cracks in the body sheet metal making the door impossible to totally align, but that will be a future project when I have the proper tools and place to work on the truck.

Also to note, not a ton of time to work on it with this little guy hanging out now. Meet Henry:

I've got to do the same thing to my pass door. I've been avoiding it for awhile now because of having to remove the fender.

Gratz on Henry too. :)

Thanks! Let me say, the fender part wasn't actually too bad. The pins being rusted in were definitely the worse part for me. I ended up saws-alling and drilling them out and not having a drill press or vice to work on them was a pain. Eventually I used a neighbors garage and vice to drill the pin out of the second hinge.

For the other door I am tempted to order a set of hinges for about $100. But right now I had time and am a cheapskate.

yeah, I tried getting my pins out awhile ago too and gave up. I'll be trying the vise and some heat next time around.

Congrats on the new boy, brother... That's awesome.. :waytogo:

Ps... I still see that boat anchor thingy under your front bumper.. Lol :haha:

Ha! It's still there to catch on some rocks just in case I start rolling down the hill backwards. I'd say it's on the list near the top...I guess I could remove it to boost the mpgs...but nothing yet to go back in yet (tucked up behind the bumper of course).
