My 86 K5 Build **wondering what's next**

So did you end up using the paintforcars site? Hod do you like the paint? And what kind of gun are you using?

Thanks guys, it looks pretty cool in person too.

It's rustoleum implement paint, color is ford blue. So far just a tad over a quart to get to this point. HF hvlp gun. Got some runs I need to sand down, but I'm happy with it so far. Much better than the faded blue and cracking/peeling clear coat.

Did them seats fit without much issue? I really want a set of buckets out of that era as they are much nicer than my 90 seats.

Still working on getting them installed...Need to get someone with factory buckets to measure the height...these feel low to me.
The bolt holes are further out, so I'll have to make something up to get the new ones to fit.
The tilt function on these only brings the back upright...not tilt further. So I'll probably have to move the pass seat a bit further forward so it can slide forward enough to access the back seat.
They are comfy though!!

The seats in my 95 Z-71 have 2 adjustments on both seats. One just adjusts where the back leans, then the other one completely leans it forward and then it slides on its rails for someone to get into the back of the truck.

And the bolt hole thing doesnt scare me away, neither of my factory seats have all the bolts anymore.

new seats are in...no pics of the new bracket construction, but they're 1.25"x.125" angle iron, lifts the seat up just enough.
Used the rear holes in the floor pan and the rear of the seat to line things up, allows just enough room with the seat moved all the way forward to access the rear seat.
I'll grab a few pics this afternoon.

Yes... Pictures!

HF hvlp gun and an old craftsman compressor...not bad for a goof-off truck IMO.
I was told the seats are from a late model gm truck....look more like tahoe seats though based on the fabric...either way they're a huge improvement in comfort. The headrests are somewhere to be installed later...

Good to see it coming along, I could use a few more friends with bigger trucks. My brothers are never going to be done but are easily viewable from the highway, and most of my friends have finally sold theirs.
