My 86 K5 build

Where is the pic of me in the magazine... Vote for #10. That's right I am number 10 entry for TTC15. I have had this username forever and just haven't paid to see everything. Maybe I will. Please go buy a FOURWHEELER magazine and vote for me!

Oh and the cage looks pretty good too.

Just an FYI for everyone....this is my brother :haha:. Like he said, he is #10 in FOURWHEELER mag for TTC15...go vote for him and I will make him become a paying member on here :waytogo:

Oh, and bro, your pic in the magazine is about 2 pages back in this thread!

Yeah, I've seen that one. My account won't log on over there, and I really don't care for Pirate.

Meh, I don't mind pirate. Sure there are some d-bags over there that usually don't know anything but love to post like they know everything, but sometimes you just have to wade through the crap to find the really good tech. And as long as you don't post anything stupid you won't get flamed :D

I agree. This website has some of the best people ive ever met on it... But honestly, Pirate has some great tech info. And I have been going there alot lately when I am looking for some good tech.

But i dont know a single person there by first name, nor do I often care too. (other than people there that I already know from ck5).

My account won't let me log in over there, and no one has ever been able to help me with that.

The main problem is the crap layout, I can't stand to look at the page for more than a few minutes. Black backgrounds are crap.

Decided it was about time to build a wrap bar. With the 56's in the rear I was getting enough axle wrap to make my rear hop on uphill climbs. So since I had some tubing left over from my cage build, decided now was as good of time as ever. So picked up some parts from RuffStuff

Built a simple little cross-member to mount the shackle off of. The next set will be to rebuilt my tranny cross-member and I will tie that into this cross-member and then build a skid plate to protect my NP241

And the tubing, and also finish welded and painted

Used a 7/8 heim at the top

Nice.

You should throw some pictures up in the traction bar thread.

Martin

I just noticed you still have overloads in the rear. Seeing how the truck flexes I was surprised to see those were in there.

PS- nice job on the anti-wrap

Finally finished my tranny/tcase cross-member. This thing took forever to finish. I have a lot of time into this thing, but I think it turned out pretty good.

Stock cross-member with "skid plate" removed

Start of the cross-member. Had to notch it and bend a tube so the front driveshaft would clear

2 brace bars back to the cross-member I built for the wrap bar

Used a fabricator set from DIY4x along with some tube tabs. Then just cut out a bracket to connect to the tcase adapter

Then built a bucket to protect my 241 (biggest reason why I went to all this work so I didn't smash the aluminum tcase on a rock

)

Capped on the open ends, finish welded it inside and out, and painted it

For those who are interested, I left a small "open" piece on each 4 corners of the bottom plate so it would drain water

And installed on the truck. And before anyone says anything, my shackle for the wrap bar is straight up and down, the pic just makes it look weird

I know some people might think it hangs down too low, but it hangs down just about as much as the stock one did, and I only hit that one a couple times, so I am ok with it.
