I love that last one on the chevy. That was actually exactly what I wanted to do from the start. But after looking at my abomb, it was going to be way stronger to do it the way I did. And that is they same exactly size pipe that I used too Scott.

And no worries on the hijack, that's actually why I referenced you in my last post....so you would back me up :thumb:

Lol I didnt even read that last line lol

If you insist I shall pic whore.
This was just last weekend. Started at midnight, ended at 4:30 lol. And drunk off my azz.... Turned out pretty bitchin. Not even close to done.

Got my new (to me) front driveshaft in. I bought it off one of my buddies Craig (icehouse) who lives just down the road from me. He is building a bad a 74 k5 that's going to be linked front and rear (if you haven't seen his build thread, check it out. That thing is going to be freaking sick). It's a full 1350 cv with about a 13 in slip in it for a fantastic deal. So at the same time I got a 1350 yoke for the d60.

Wow I can't believe how much it flexes lol

I know right :D. I have actually decided that it is flexing so much that I am going to put some bump stops and some limit strap on there.

Not a bad idea, definitely bump stops. I ran them with stops, but not limit straps.

Yeah, the bumps i'll do first. My draglink barely contacts the crossmember at full stuff (not bad at all, but still does), so i was gonna make sure the bumps don't allow that. Then we will see with the straps, I might be fine without them. I was gonna try to make my own bumps that go in the factory location. We will see what I come up with.

I think this thing has come a long ways in the year that I have owned it. I was getting so sick of always saying how cool it would be to have a bad a K5, so I decided when I got mine I was going to build it like I always wanted. I don't know if mine qualifies for the GM of the Month on this site, but I'm loving how it is turing out!!!

 Thanks Scott. Now get that crew cab going so I can nominate that one :waytogo:. It's going to be so sick!!!

Yeah, I'm excited to have it done also. The next month my Saturdays are going to be tied up with my son's basketball games so I'm not going to get as much done.

Got a couple parts in

Got some 6'' shackles, some new poly bushings and greasable bolts for the rear now. Also got some shock tabs.

Man these things are so beef its not even funny. So Bad A!

The original plan is to pull the old shackles and remove the factory bushings from the springs (not looking forward to that crap). Then I was going to inboard my rear shocks with some of the left over tubing I have from the sliders and bumper and use the shock tabs, but my exhaust is exactly in the way of where I want to put my inboarded shocks, and I really don't want to have to mess with the exhaust again (already did all of that a couple months ago). So I'm thinking of just getting some new shocks for the rear and putting them in the stock location until I redo the exhaust later on down the road. Then at the same time I will inboard the shocks. So now I am thinking I can use those tabs to put some limiting straps on the front. At the same time I do that I am going to build some bump stops too.

Well, i've been busy as crap lately but I had a half day at work today, so had some time to get my rear shackles on.

Taking the rears off

Old next to new. Amazing how much more beef these things are

And installed

I thought I was going to need to get new shocks in the rear too, but after some measurements, I think mine are going to work just fine. As stated before, I'm going to leave them in the stock location and later on down the road when I mess with the exhaust, then i'll inboard the rear shocks. Also, the silver paint that I used on my tubes was the crappiest walmart paint out there and they were already starting to rust, so I paid a little more money and got some good black paint for now. I kinda like it that way though. I may leave it.

I think it sits a little bit more level now, which is good because when I get a bumper on the rear, I think it will set perfect. Next order for business is to reseal my tcase because it has been leaking like a siv and I'm sick of it.

Looking good. :waytogo:

Looks great man! Rear bumper time?

Thanks guys. Yeah, my bro and I have been really trying to make some headway on a rear bumper. I think we might be getting close. I also have decided to start aquiring some hydro assist parts. Not all at once, but over the next little bit try to get everything so I can do some hydro assist steering. I think that would be a really smart upgrade on this thing. We will see how long it takes me to get all that stuff. I've been watching your build Deuling, it's coming along great! How much have you got done on yours mrk5?
