My 86 K5 build

I thought it looked like something dreamed up for the zombie apocalypse. :yikes:

Well you do run it with a guard :D

It's supposed to cut tires like butter :pimp:

I have a blade like that, and it goes on the weed wacker. Nice and far from my fingers, and also still serves as a super cool zombie killing machine, but at a safer distance :zombie18:

Oh yeah, things are getting serious now. Got the boggers mounted up and installed. Also did some fender trimming. Pretty much took off about 2" all the way around the front and rear fenders. I also shaved down the firewall to be smooth. I have not flexed it out yet, but I think most of the trimming will get the job done...maybe a few things here and there to tweak.

Now I just need to mount my new radiator overflow and finish up my battery mount, and I also purchased some adjustable bump stops from DIY4x that I need to weld up so I can limit the up travel on the front...it's getting there though

I was actually surprised how much it still felt like I had the 38.5's still on (power wise and steering). Granted the tires were aired up to 25psi and I was just driving around on the pavement...and I know that is way different than being bound up in the rocks, but I was still surprised. I have some plans on the horizon to help with the gearing

Fancy.

Martin

You know it!

Wow:eek1:

That looks insanely wicked:bow:

I couldn't tell, are your inner wells gone now?

Thanks. Yeah, the front inner fender wells are gone. I also shaved down the firewall a bit just to make sure I don't chunk up the tires at full stuff. I have a few little things to tinker with and need to flex it out to make sure I have clearance, but it's all worth it in the end, haha

DROOOOOL.

Thanks Bud!

Looking good!

Need some top off pics with the new tires.

I am legitimately jealous. You'll have to let me know how you like the Boggers on the rocks.

Martin

Haha, thanks man. I plan on grooving them for some lateral traction but yeah, I will let you know how they work. I have always heard the comments people say about boggers in the rocks, but for the price I got these for, I will make it work the best I can

Hows The steering? Any noticeable change?

With the tires up to 25psi and on dry concrete, it felt identical to when I had the 38.5's on there. I have no other experience yet with them other than that. When I get it on the trail I can let you know.

I had to figure out a new set up for my coolant overflow since I got rid of my wheel wells. I ended up purchasing this smaller tank from Speedway Motors. I just bolted it right to the core support. It seems to work really well

Different angle

Finally got it flexed out a little on my trailer

As you can probably tell from the second pic, my front axle is forward enough that it was getting into the end tubes on my front bumper, so I had to do some more trimming on the front, shave down the tubes a bit, and re-cap them. Also shaved down the core support a bit

A view from a little farther back showing the additional trimming

Other than that, the tires should clear just fine now, even with the firewall. I now will be removing the factory bump stops and welding on my adjustable ones from DIY4x and I should be ready to take it out and see how things work

The flex looks good, I wonder if it is still going to rub once you get it off road?

Martin

Is that overflow vented? And maybe I'm retarded; but since it's that much lower than the tank, is it going to act like a siphon?

Yes, it's vented. Everything I have read is the overflow level just needs to be lower than the cap on the radiator...doesn't matter how much lower it is
