My '91 S-10 build: Ol Red

My master plan was to build almost that identical unit after my Suburban is finished. So I can go with the Jeep guys around here with the smaller body, cool. Looks nice, give me something to model mine after here and there.

my last trip out with Chris and Mike was what made me pull the trigger on the smaller bodied rig.
I "tried" to go in the jimmy where chris went in his jeep but it was just too wide. ended up smacking the body on rear quarter. had a sickening feeling after that for messing up the body. so the jimmy will get "restored" and the s10 will be...used hahah

Not sure... If I do get one, I'll be looking for one thats respectably built, already.
I'm willing to build stuff and fine tune it,
but after the K5 and C/10, I'll never build from the ground up again.

I want a toy thats almost done, not a project vehicle/driveway-weight.
So,it will all depend on my budget and whats available at the time.
Wont be for at least a year, anyhow.

I'd love to snap up a fully built Sami', and just wheel the piss out of it.
I can buy someones 'already done' rig and a trailer, for a fraction of what a full size build costs.

Ill get some day light pics after work.

been doing a ton of stuff to it in order to keep up with Chris on the trail...cuz we all know how he wheels :haha:

what started out as just "trim the control arm pockets on the frame" turned into cutting out the OE engine crossmember and building a low profile unit, and cut the coil spring buckets flush with the frame and plating those up.....all I can say is holy cow there is sooo much room.
I went from 1" of uptravel to atleast 10". but its limited by my shocks at 5.5"

(insert pics here)

also picked up 2 more MTRs for the front of the S10 and 2 more BFG Bajas for the Jimmy so now both trucks will be back on 37s :D

only downer is one of the MTRs and Bajas has pin hole leaks in the side lugs so gotta dismount it and take it to get vulcanized

(insert pic here)

took it for a shakedown flex on a ditch bank next to my house....lets just say neighbors did not like that too much haha.

(insert pic here)

also built some 2x4 .188 wall sliders. I wanted .25 but the steel supply only had .188 and I didnt feel like waiting.

(insert pic here)

also had some drinks while working on it yesterday and decided to just do the doubler now vs later since Ill have to cut the floor even more to fit it. no sense in doing things twice...which has been the mantra of this build :haha:
going to "try" and get ahold of DD machine but if all else fails...make it myself.

after that I can get the skid on it and lengthen the drive-line to match.
then its time to rock :woot:
