My Condensed 5.3 Swap Thread. LSX LQ4 LM7 Vortec Gen III

Correct, it has the wrong calibration. The ecm thinks I have a 5.7! I have a th400. The vss is a matter of getting two more wires plugged into the harness at the ecm in my case.

:eek1:

Getting that right is going to be like night and day!

Just showed up! As I'm headed out of town for the weekend... :doah:

Mark, I think we might have a little problem. That i think i can rectify on my end but i think i need some help with. I think i might have a problem with the o2 sensors due to the guy i got the stuff from having it all set up from an f-body. I know when i was doing the install i ended up having to buy o2 sensors for a 01 camaro because thats the way the harness was set up. At the time i thought nothing of it and assumed the dude had used the f-body harness but programmed the ecm for the 5.3. Come to find out, its programmed for a 2000 ls1... So, in going through these two pin out charts, for pin 63,

there is some discrepency in the o2 sensor areas. It SEEMS so far that the ecm isnt reading the o2's. I will say that it started right up with the new ecm you sent and idled perfect! But now i dont know if maybe its idling too low? Its idling at about 580 with it not quite warmed up all the way. Also, when i pulled out of my driveway, it bucked a few times before picking up which i thought was strange. What do you think of all that so far?

Ok, so i just went back out there and took some screen shots from my scanner app thing. The really strange thing is that i can hold the peddle about half way down and it will just rev for a second then cut out and repeat over and over. I have a video uploading now of it. Also, it seems to be reading the o2's, but its all wacky. I'll post back in a few wehen everything is loaded. Im pretty sure its an issue with the o2's and stuff. we'll see.

Video, I have it at idle then a little bit of gas then up to about 40% throttle. When its "surging" the peddle is at a steady position.

The video is black because its dark out but you can hear the motor.

And some screen shots,

Before you put your old PCM back in read the codes!

So just for fun I went back out and plugged my old computer backin and it rran fine again.
EDIT: D'oh!

See if it is running closed loop on old PCM.

Check the O2 sensor wires to pin outs, your harness may not be wired for isolated grounds or it's a 2003 up harness. But if it was working before it should work now!

That could be a bad PCM I sent you, it was a JY pull? Would really like to see what codes it set.

I did read the codes, all I got was p0650. Yes the old pcm goes into closed loop. And as soon as It does, as you might expect, it drops the fuel trims hard cause it starts realizing that it's over fueling. The harness is an f body unit off apparently a 00 camaro. I can't figure out still if they useisolated or case ggrounded o2s. All I have found so far is the difference in the pin outs between the two on the 63 pin.

Do you have a CEL/MIL hooked up?
