doesn't anyone read. seems like you just look at the pictures. :doah:

Hey looks great and keep up the updates its fun to read about all this going on fo rthe guys who just can't do that type of mods right now. thanks and nice looking truck man!

Whats up guys.

Its a tight fit but its going to work. The fist thing that would hit is the engine crossmember. I only have about 4" of up travel so I should have more than enough clearance.

The rams are 2.5 X 10 from Surplus supply.

Does anybody know how thick (width, not diameter) the front brake rotors are on a 68-82 Corvette?

How you gonna do the U-bolts on those? Are you gonna run them around the axles and springs, or just from the plates to the springs? Are the welds from the plates onto the axle strong enough? (Looks like 1/2" plate, so I'm thinking yes, but still seems like a LOT of stress.)

No u bolts, 6- 1/2" bolts sandwich 2 3/4" plates on the springs. Yes there is a little more stress but each plate was preheated and has 8 passes with a Lincoln 210. The housings will rip before these come off.

This is the joy of Rockwells, the scale is all off. 3/4" plate, mwuhahahahaha. :D

how much space do you have between the top loader and x member? how much lift r u running ? is this a stiff mud suspension or will it flex for some trails/ rocks? sorry for all the ?? but i'm about to buy a set of rocks and want to stay as low as possible (10" lift?).

build looks awesome

I thought you had to have double ended rams to have full hydro? I read the whole post but I just figured since it was single ended ram it was just hydro assist.

I'm running about 7" of lift and there is about 5" between the diff and x memeber. I'm running 52's in the front so it moved my axle forward some, so I don't know about stock length springs. If my axle wasn't moved forward I think there would be oil pan issues.

I try to stay out of the mud, mostly trails and rocks is what I do. My front suspension has very little up travel and alot of droop.

Thanks

No you can run single ended rams w/full hydro, the only difference is the double ended rams apply equal force both ways, compaired to a single, it will be stronger pushing than pulling. There is not a big difference in the forces but a huge difference in price.

I saw a guy at shiloh a few weeks ago and he has a jeep on 44s with 2.5 ton rocks and 4 wheel steering. On the rear he has 2 single ended rams so that way when he was climbing stuff and standing more on the rear tires he can still turn it no problem. You thought about doing that?

There isn't a huge advantage to running 2 single ended rams so I just stuck with 1.

The difference is the double ended ram is balanced. Therefore you have equal turn's and force to both direction's. SO say 4 turn's one way 4 turn's the other. with a single ended ram you lose something like 15% out of being equal in one stroke. and you really don't need 2 ram's to push the tire's.

My last truck had 44" Bogger's welded , and a 2x8" TSC Ram. Worked great.

I already said that SPEEDY, just in an easer to understand way for the non knowledgeable

Just j/k bro

according to Ryan at ouverson the WMS-WMS with his super 8 kit is 75" on a stock housing.

OHHHH!!!

Okay, I see what you are doing now. I thought you were going to weld the plate to the BOTTOM of the axle tube, not the top.

That makes WAAAAAYYY more sense now.

Sorry for doubting man, you got this thing uncontrol!!! hahaha

I left my camera at home so I'll snap em tomorrow.

I got the rear axle mounted and started to assemble the axles when I found 2 of my spindles were toast. They look like the inner bearings were locked up and did alot of damage. So I have to get some spindles and other parts. The first time I'm actually waiting on parts and it SUCKS.

O Boo hoo you have to wait on parts!! :wink1: Sounds like you are moving right along pretty good. It looks like I may be buying a full hydro PSC steering setup from Damon that had the black samuria with the red roll cage and now has the camo blazer that was on 44's last time we wheeled together at shiloh. He is wanting to go with hydro assist to make it more driveable on the road. So I may ended up getting my rocks in sooner than I had thought.
