Nice truck, and Poser pics:waytogo::D .

I like the trim around the grille i dont chrome would look good againts the white. Just my .2 cents

I guess together we'd have $.04 cents because I thought the same thing about the trim. :D

Man, look at those poser pics. Just kidding man, I love the way your truck turned out. The trim looks good to me. Of course seeing that brace on the first page just reminded me that I have more parts to buy for my winter floor project.

Hey Glenn, is that Bellingham? Still open?

Ya thats from the sand pits in Bellingham. The mud was totally dried up so the sand was the only fun i could have. The place is still open and I don't see them shutting it down anytime soon! The pictures turned out great too!

Trail Damage!

Well I've been doing some wheelin and I ended up beating the truck a little harder than I wanted to... Sorry no action shots, but I have aftermath shots:

My tires absolutely ate my fenders:

My core support has continued to fall apart...

Offroaddamage2.jpg

Offroaddamage3.jpg

Also I have 2 dents in my driver side fender :(

Offroaddamage7.jpg

Offroaddamage6.jpg

And last but not least, a massive crack in the engine cross member:

Offroaddamage1-1.jpg

Ok so a break down of the damage:
In order to continue down this trail, I had to traverse some very deep ruts that were eroaded away from water runoff. So of coarse the tires go straight into the fenders... The guy behind me go high centered on the ruts too. :eek1:

The core support has gotten worse since I last posted. I believe that if I continue to run it one of two things can happen: the radiator falls off and goes straight into the fan :eek1:, or the thing splits in two... The core support is actually the reason my grill keeps breaking, its flexing too much for the plastic to handle. At this point I have lost all mounts for the bottom of the grill so its just kinda dangling from teh top...

The fenders got dented because my driverside front wheel got wedged against a log on the ground and since it was very tight (wink wink:doah:) between the trees in the small section, I couldn't back up and if I went too far foward I would have hit another tree, so my only option was to turn right, however, since the tire was wedged and I still have the stock steering setup, I couldn't turn the wheels at all. So the dents are actually from the idiots in the car behind me who got out and pushed against my fender as I tried to turn and they ended up getting me out of there but left me with 2 dents...

For the crack in the engine cross member, it was probably there before, I just happened to notice it now. I plan on doing the ORD solution for it:

So I have some work I have to do...

Ouch Glenn, big time:eek1:

nice truck.. but oh sheeit.. time to make it a trail truck!:D sorry to hear what happened. its still a nice truck. no matter what happens to it..

i might have a core support for ya...

Tom

Actually Bigblaze has got one for me, along with all the final brake parts needed for me to convert a 14bsf to 6 lug. Now, I just need the axel itself...

I don't know what I'm going to do about the dents. I can't get to it from the backside to just tap it back out, and since I've never really done dents before, I'm kinda lost. I may just bring it back to the body shop that did the paint. I also really want to do a cowl induction hood. Probably fiber glass because its lighter and the factory hood is freakin heavy! Suggestions for a hood?

Also since I didn't replace my rear bed fenders when I did all my body work, they are getting a little rough as far as the inside lip that mounts to the bed sides. I'd like to relace them, the only problem is that other than LMC I can't seem to find them really. Any suggestions to where I can find them?

do not go fiberglass!!

its less than perfect and needs final prep to be ready for paint,

ive installed and painted 4 cowl hoods that were metal and loved it,

the 1 fiberglass one I ended up selling. find a better place to save some weight.

In this he is right, the fiberglass hoods just aren't up to spec as far as quality is concerned.

For the front fender, you may be able to remove the fender and push them out on a few heavy pillows, but it may damage that nice paint you have.

Sorry to hear that after seeing all the work you have put into this truck. It is probably what will happen to mine once the paint goes on next year.:doah:

Glenn, I have an extra DS side fender too, just has a small dent near the grill area, but nothing that can`t be fixed easily with a hammer/dolly. Let me know. I need to find out where we can meet still.

Nah I don't think I'll need a new fender. I'll call you later this afternoon to set up a meeting place.

I'll trust you on that... Metal it is :D

just an idea

I have been in your situation which is more of a ****uation. You need to decide if this is going to be a trail rig or a street ride. You will just keep blowing your money on paint and body panels and then one day you will roll it over because wheeling is just not as fun if you are not hitting it hard. Drive that thing straight into the forest and break trail knocking down whatever is in your way that you can at full throttle, headed strait to the side of a swamp giving it all it has pushing the limits showing off bigtime because you can and are not worried abut twigs scratching your pretty paint. Or fix the paint/body one last time, and drive it every day while you dream about the other monster (preferably a K5) in your garage that your are just going to thrash and abuse to the fullest extent of the throttle later on that day. Do it.
