Hmmmm. Well, I'm not real smart on this stuff - just wanted to help check off one issue.

It could be a gunked up or plugged oil passage. Change the oil and filter and see if that fixes the situation.

Update!

I must say thanks to 4x4HIGH for giving me some recent advice as to what to check. I changed the oil and filter with some 20-50 Valvoline VR1 and still the oil pressure hardly changed. So I thought I would double check the reading with a spare gauge I had laying around. I fired the engine up and boom 45 psi at warm idle. I hooked the dash gauge back up and now it reads just fine. So go figure... It must have been some sort or debris in the sender line or something. I am very relieved and very happy that this was only a fluke of a problem.

Now that the oil pressure problem has been solved, I can concentrate on getting the carb tuned correctly. I have an assortment of accelerator pump cams and secondary springs on order. So I can dial the carb in even better than it is now.

I just put aluminum heads, intake, carb, dizzy on my 350 this spring, I'm thinking of pulling the motor, cleaning it up, and putting a roller cam in it next year sometime.

But I did get a lot of tuning done today. The engine has really smoothed out and all crackling has been removed. It turns out that the timing was extemely advanced, I mean like 30* at idle. How the engine even ran and how I didn't put a hole in a piston is beyond me. But now with my new MSD distributor and new throttle bracket that will actually allow me to hit full thottle the difference is huge. The engine really puts you back in your seat. All I need now are a set of burnout tires... let me know if anyone lurking locally has some

Here is a pic of the new throttle bracket. It is a fancy piece of billet aluminum and costs a pretty penny but now the return springs actually return the throttle fully to idle although I need to play with the cable a little more to get full throttle since I'm only getting about 3/4 of travel.

Made for you vertical mount. Summit sells them. I run their stuff where ever I can.

I like this setup. One of these days, I will actually get the motor back in the truck. To use any of these type of spark plug wire brackets, you have to use the cut to fit wires. I've never gotten the fitted wires to route the way I wanted.

fyi find a way to mount that fuel pump on some rubber isolators like msd uses for there ign boxes. that noise would drive me nuts even over the exaust.

fyi does sound vary healthy and strong.

Ya the noise does suck but I got a good deal on the pump. I would like to swap to a TBI tank with internal fuel pump and the baffles. It seems like when I get below a 1/2 tank my fuel pressure drops a bit and when the gas sloshes around you can hear the pump gulping air. The pump only really bothers me when the truck isn't moving. Wind/tire/engine/stereo do a good job of drowning it out at all other times.

This is what I did when I put in the TPI system. I bought a new tank with welded baffles from rockauto.com and an ebay sending unit. Then I bought a Walbro pump. I can barely hear the pump when the engine is off.
