my TRAZER build thread...take a gander

I though those pictures looked like Davis, I am going to guess west Davis kinda by the hospital. Did you or do you go to DHS or UCD or what? I am from Davis and am up there a lot but I go to school down in Santa Cruz. My truck doesn't get out much it tends to be a cop magnet, probably only driven inside the city limits maybe 5 times in the last 3 years.

With 40's I think 5.13's will be pretty slow with the drive train you have, don't underestimate the joys of that granny gear and lack of overdrive. If you stick with 40's bet you could get away with 4.56's to keep your highway speed up a little. I run 4.10's with 38's and it is just about perfect on the trail, and with warm tires it will cruse at 70 with no problems. Just a though...

ditto..Ive run 36 and 38 inch tires with the sm465/205 combo and 4.10 gears its perfect for highway and good crawl off road with this set up! an added benefit is there are tons of 3/4 ton or 1 ton trucks already to bolt in with this gear ratio!

I might be jumping the gun a its hard to see in the pic, and I dont know your ability, but it looks like you need to turn you wire speed down. The welds look like they are building up and not getting alot of penetration. Or maybe grind the corners down a bit so you create a valley where you are placing the weld.

lol. thats kinda a given, when i first seen the first post i was like yep i bet the cops have been there. i live in a so so neighborhood and have a back driveway that goes up from the side like 50 feet from the street and i wont even take on a project like that here:eek1:,

BTW, did it ever dawn on you that your neighbors think YOU are a pussy for not having the balls to ask them if they minded that you turn the street in to a junk yard? Maybe you live in the ghetto? I love wheel'n and wrenching but I clean up my messes every day and I inform my neighbors when I'm going to do something a little out of the ordinary. I hate to be a dick but its guys like you that give wheel'n a bad name. You can come back at me with what ever you want but you should really stop and think about that. If you did that **** in my neighborhood, I'd be knock'n on your door for sure. Be respectful man.
 
this is a delicate line to dance on but I have my opinion as do others, some feel this is america and they will be damned if they are told what they can or cant do on their property... fine, im all for that. Move into a rural area or get on some land.

I learned the hard way that being extra friendly and engaging in conversation with the neighbors about your project or plans is key. Putting a car on jack stand? well they dont know if it will be a day of a year..they probably assume the worst. I tell my neighbors if I am ever being too loud "I do alot of grinding" to call me and ill take a break or work on something else. Some times people are having a bad day, attitude, general opinion etc..some of it cant be helped. When I used to live at home I did a two year frame off project in an hoa neighborhood, I was a able to manage it with out getting in trouble. Certain neighborhoods are different, but in general extra effort on your part might do the trick...but their are "those" people out there that just are a pain and will call on everything.

its the same reason I turn the radio down when I pull in the street, just a little respect.

it does not look like a vehicle, stuff is everywhere and way too many parts were missing. There is alot of stuff going on at once. if you were to get the suspension and driveline done, then work on the body it would not look as much of a parts pile. The hours you do this are a big factor as well. Clean the garage out and get it to where you can roll it in when your done and that should get the people off your back. I have been on your side of the fence, but there are alot of other people on the other side you have to consider.

who is to say he doesnt own the land? and not everyone can just afford to pick up and move to the country just to work on a project

to me working on your truck on your property is perfectly fine, i can understand what you mean about noises like the grinding you were talking about but as for an eye sore, ya ok its not that pretty but get over it

some people have different ideas of what an eye sore is, if i was driving down that street and saw that, i would think hey cool the guy has a sweet project, now not everyone thinks like me but its the same thing as mowing you lawn in shorts, who says i want to see your white ass legs? but its your property and your right.

to pick everything up and have it perfectly organized is not always possible and to work on one area of a vehicle and finish it before the next is rediculous. who says he aint waiting for parts? to wait to compelete each section of the project takes time which means that much longer before the "eye sore" goes away. and it cuts down productivity.

enough said lets not turn his thread into a shouting match about how is neighbors are gonna think.

Come on now. Don't jump all over this guys back and start flaming him for working on his truck. Maybe his front driveway is the only place he has to work on it. Would you rather he do it in the street? I know I live in a neighborhood where the houses are relatively close and I can agree that you need to try to keep your workspace around your truck clean (at least from what people can see from the street:D) but have you considered he took those pics before he was done working on the truck for the day and cleaned up later?

Personally Cuervo, from what you sound like, you're "that guy" in the neighborhood that nobody likes (but then again you might work for code enforcement so it makes sense).

I'm here for the tech on his trazer build, not to hear people flame him for keeping a cluttered workspace. Like it was previously stated, thread back on topic and keep up the good work:waytogo:

my statement was not to flame him, im just suggesting how to make it easier on him, it worked for me for 2 years in an hoa neighborhood. I know the hassles, ive been there and it can be frustrating, but you have to work with in your limitations, be it a budget, time, rules, priorities or even work space

I've been looking for a blazer tub or truck cab for 6 mos. Throw a little salt in the wound, why don't ya... :D. You might have better luck selling those kinds of parts on CK5.

Your neighbor sounds like he needs to realize that the town could be on his ass too. You could have some fun with that. Unless he is one perfect SOB. Then you could have some fun with that too.

ya im in south davis i go to the high school but about the gears im not quite sure what im going to run yet ill probobly end up running 40's with the stock 4'10's for a while it just depends on the money

hahahahahah i knew someone would question that the welds look like taht because i had to bridge about a quarter inch the way i did the crossmember is i took just regular c beam and i cut a triangle out of it on each side so i could just bend the member to get 90 degrees sorry if that is hard to understand

yes i understand but also what alot of you dont understand is that tho one and only reason its like this is because ive been running around like a chicken with its head cut off to get it rolling so i can put it in the garage and also i do clean up all my crap and cover it with a car cover every moment im not messing with it
