my TRAZER build thread...take a gander

yes i used the factory gauges i didnt see the point in blowing the money for auto meter stuff when i had a fully functional cluster sitting on my bench. but ill buy an auto meter tach for sure and for the switches i got rid of the heat a/c panel and put a ignition panel there and im also putting a panel where the vent came out directly above the heat a/c panel for lights fans and my mojave heater. what gauges are you using?
That sounds like how mine is set up, guess it just looks too clustered to me. I just run factory gauges as well although right now I think the only one that works is the fuel

yea well i dont have much choice as of now because i have to use a bench in it for a little while so i cannot have switches in a center console or something like that. but once i get some bucket seats and an inner cage i might do an overhead console for a cb, stereo a little locking glove box type thing and more switches but ill have to see how everything goes

little update. if its sunny tomorrow im going to break out the rattle cans and sandpaper to start the painting im going to make it as good as i can for now but i need to get the paint done in order to progress in the build(fenders hood and windows) im painting it kind of an air force blue a little darker, and flat black on the bottom foot and a half it should look cool. i also i have to modify the cab to fit 81 and later hood hinges since its an 80. if anyone has any info on a good way to do this i am all ears.

i got a cherokee steering shaft today and im going to go pick up a 2wd steering box tomorrow im also going start making my steering box brace its going to look like the ord one. and i really want to get all my lines finished up for the hydroboost so i can feel some sense of completion. after that im going to mount and wire the windstars. i need to get this stuff done soon. has anyone ever put windstars on a diesel radiator because it looks like its going to be a hell of a challenge

Isnt the diesel radiator just thicker? Should be the same as it is for the gas engine if it is. I will get some pic's of how mine are mounted tomorrow.

Saw your question about the breakers in the black betty thread, I run just run a 30 amp breaker for each fan. I haven't had a problem with them yet but they can draw quite a lot when they start up.

I emailed the mix canyon guy to see if they are wheeling this sunday. If they are I am going to go

Here's how I mounted mine, the top is a part of an aluminum sign and the bottom is just some 2" angle iron welded on there.

the diesel radiator i got is probobly 5 inches wider and 2 inches taller. is it a big deal if there are spaces on the side of the fans. would that prevent the fans from sucking the air through the radiator or is it no biggie. and yea i figured 30 amp breaker would do the job. how did you wire your fans to a switch or to a temp sensor? let me know what you hear from mix

Mine are setup so each fan has a 30 amp relay, a 30 amp breaker and a switch. If I were to do it again I would run the big one with a temp sensor and a switch and just a switch on the small one. I have forgotten to turn them on a couple times and boiled over. If I don't here back from mix canyon by tomorrow I will give them a call
