My truck was stolen please help!

hey i know what most of us would probly want to do impulse wise in your situation, but honestly, if youve found the truck, and its sitting in a lot, call the cops, and have them watch it. and when someone comes out and gets in it, have them arrested and press charges. its really the best way to handle it. if you approach the truck, or just take it back, you run the risk of the same people coming back and getting it again, or retaliating against you for taking your truck back (yeah i dont get it either but thats the way alot of those people work, its ok to steal, but how DARE you steal something back).

good job tracking it down, and best luck gettin it back with the minimum complications.

I am very sorry to hear about your ride. My suggestion...crack heads will do anything for money so let them find your ride by offering a little cash. And if the neighbors video is digital I would turn in into a CD and give it to the cops. Good luck getting her back!

a guy i know got his burb stolen and got it back but he looked under every rock and talked to the bad guys

just keep looking

Make fliers with colored pics and contact info for the department that took the report, then drop those off at all the departments in the area so the info can be given to all officers.

Contact your state police agency and also if there is an auto theft task force in the area and give them specific info that they can tell specifically if it is your vehicle even if it was painted.

check pawn shops for rims and tires, stereos and other easily pawned items.

4x4 shops and local papers, craigslist for people selling the stuff from the truck.

Well things are looking better. I got these guys on video and they stole it at 12:04pm and the pulled up in a car. I have the discription of the car and the people. I have to go to another place across the street and ask for more footage to get the license plate number of the car the theves pulled up in, when I get that it'll be jail time for quite a few people and it might actually be connected to a co-worker, but I'm not jumping to conclusions.
With a little more work I'll have this back with pretty much no help from the police. Again the key to life is to do it yourself. I'm going to watch The Punisher now.

I work offshore and i have to leave my baby in the parking lot of an airport while i'm offshore for two weeks. I've got my windows tinted 5% and a viper alarm on it but as mentioned, even that won't stop somebody that really wants it. I espically hate the fact that mine could be stollen and it be two weeks before i get to report it missing. I hope you get it and the POS goes to jail over it.

it really is sad how often it is people you know. my apartment was broken into on xmas day, while i was at grandma's. the place wasnt ransacked, they only took two things and knew exactly where they were. my 12ga and my XD45 pistol. my gut immediatly, and to this day, says it was my roomates friend who we let crash there for a while when he was on the ropes, but i couldnt prove it, so i just made him move out. not much else i could do and still be on the good side of the law. wish i had a camera set up in the house. its in the works as we speak.

kill switch is the only way i feel safe about my truck, hell even i can break into that thing in a few minutes

diesel w/ manual glow plug system, an ignition system that is hacked so that if you turn the key there isnt enough amps to fire, w. a hidden push button starter

having a twin sticked tcase in neutral while parked and a floor mounted shifter also help to confuse somebody who is looking also

the best insurance is to change it up and make it confusing to start/drive if you dont know what you are doing.

you made a police report?

report it, in case your guns are used in a crime, you can prove they were takin from you!

OH NO NO, cops were called that night, forensics came by and did their thing but didnt find any evidence. the serial numbers were reported and added to the national stolen firearms list, i even had pictures and full descriptions of the firearms to give to the police. including custom mods. i definatly dont mess around with firearms, i like to think of myself as a responcible owner. the only reason they werent in a lockbox is because im down at school renting an apartment and hadnt bought a second box to install down here. back home they are all locked up.

when i said all i could do was kick him out, i was referring to all that i could do to the guy. if i could have proved it was him, he probly wouldnt have eaten solid food for a month. but i couldnt, so i just swallowed it.

With mine when I park it I have a kill switch, plus the alarm. and all the switches are very well hidden.

Ya sorry about the delay. I do not have it and it has been six days. I know the car the theves were in was a 2003 Olds Aurora black. I was going around to different businesses asking if they had footage of major streets because chances are they got back on the highway because I'm only a mile from it. One bank said they would help, but I need a cop to come in and look at the tapes... I cannot do it myself. I have been bascially been on the hunt and even missing college just to find this thing, but more importantly the tag on the follow car. I saw a camera on a street that takes pictures of cars that run the red light... if by chance they did that would help, but I cannot get access to that. I told someone to tell the detective and what they said in return almost made me punch a cop. "If your truck ran the red light your getting the ticket... hahaha!" :ignore: I was so angry at that.

When I finally spoke to the guy he said the footage was bad (what I had before not the traffic light) and if I had any more info. I said to call the bank and look at the red light camera... his responce: "Whao one step at a time here." Well I'm glad I filled out the forms for a gun license because I'm gonna be looking for these guys. My own father even said he knows someone who was once chief of police "Get him a plate number or even a name and he will take care of them... I will even pay him to take care of them." So looks like the local detectives are worth squat and there was a massive alert put out to the cops by a "connection" my father has. I love this city, but I hate when bad stuff happens.

I hate to hear about your situation man. I know the feeling. I had helped my dad rebuild a 72 stepside 4x4 for 2 years so I could have it when I turned 16. Had a built 327, 4 in. lift, and a brand new fire engine red paintjob. Went to my hunting land one weekend with my dad 2 weeks before my 16 birthday and parked the truck in my father's shop. Shop had an alarm, barred windows and razor wire around the top of the 8 foot chain link fence. Ex employee, we believe, broke in with some buddies, took 60,000 worth of tools and the truck. Never found anything. Luckily I just had the truck appraised so it wasn't a total loss
