Paul if its worth the effort to you I get 10% off at lowes via the wifes discount. Id have to go in with you but just thought I would throw that out there.

thanks mang.. :D

but it looks like I'm flopping again anyway... :doah:

this afternoon I fixed the sparkfest rigid.. it had a broken bolt in the case... runs like a champ now.. for an abrasive..... so technically, I don't "need" anything to build the tubebed now..

but, I'm pretty certain I'm gonna buy that bandsaw early this week... unless it's crazy shipping or something.. seems silly to buy another, albeit killer, chop saw... and I've been talking about getting a bandsaw now for yrs..

I got bandsaw on the brain..

contemplating stepping up to a wetsaw for just under a grand...

but one thing I'm noticing is all those wetsaws, aren't vertical capable as far as I can tell...

spying a couple grizzleys and jets for around a grand... my grizzley sander has been a good tool.. baileigh first cooled offering is $1600, out of my range..

I like that it looks like a gear drive

than for $25 more, they have this 7 x 12

both with cooling...

than the jet I was looking at was this 5 x 8

so for as much as I love the idea of the cooling.. in all honesty, it's much more of a hobbyist use, not production.. I don't do blank after blank type work...

so that really lends itself to the $600 dry saw with vertical capability I think.. heck, I can add the evo chop too for almost the same coin..

My 7x12 Jet will go verticle. Just turn off the coolant pump and bolt on the table. That 7x12 Grizzly looks just like a Jet, so it might as well.

yeah, the 7x12 jets are more than I wanna spend.. under 1100 shipped is what I'm willing to go..

is the cooling THAT beneficial? to blade life, etc?

I think the coolant makes a big difference. Granted I haven't been doing a lot of cutting the last year or so, but the blade on my saw has been on there for at least a year. Of course I buy good blades, although they're only about $35.

For what you need I would seriously look at a Grizzly band saw. I don't think there is that much difference between them and Jet.....aside from cost.

I've been happy with my grizzly sander.. that's why I thought I'd give them a look...

i'll call em tomorrow... see if I can get a gal of coolant thrown in with that...

good to hear real world..

gonna order a grizzly tomorrow.. unless I can't get free liftgate service... our forklift is down at work right now..

if that happens, i'll just order my tube tomorrow.. and get this a few weeks down the road when we have our fork back....

Get a HE&M like this one. It'll cut anything you would ever want to cut. We put three 1x6 sections of bar stock stacked vertically into this today and it went through it like butter.

Cost is equal to a really nice car though.

On a serious note. Have you cruised through craigslist for a used Ellis? Those are great also.

yeah, I've done the CL, eghey watch for awhile now... tho I RARELY see anything on CL in my state.. I only check joysey

sometimes a ratty larger one will show up within 100 miles or so in the $500 to 800 range on eghey, but most of the times they look pretty darn tired for that long a ride at 10 mpg.. :haha:

new, shipped, alleviates tons of that.. the other thing is, I really don't have the space for some big old Carolina, etc.

I've been trying to look at as many brands as I can.. baileigh, Dayton, jet, grizzly, dake....

Got it. I haven't used any of those since the boss will not have anything but USA made machines unless he has no choice.
It's all Scotchman and HE&M saw here.

We have a HEM saw at the shop right now. Automatic horizontal for production work. It's older and in need of being replaced.

Saws are hard things to shop for.

I meant for the gal of rustlick.. sh*t's expensive.. guy said it was good stuff tho...

Ahhhh gotcha!

I think you'll like that saw. It's the same as the Jet I have had since '98.

That's about what I paid for mine in '98 too.
