New shop build.

So back to concrete. Had every intention of cutting joints in the morning.

Well the guy helping me showed up tonight with his saw. Was just gonna show me how to do it. Chalked the lines and we just kept going. Did most of it by flashlight lol.

Anyhoo joints are now cut in

Nighttime pic so it's a crappy pic

Joints every 10 ft. Tomorrow clean it up and spray cure and seal on it

Also being down for 2 months with my head prevented me from spending money. Which I suppose is a blessing in disguise.

What you gonna do w/ that leak? Gonna dig up and waterproof the outside..?

Not sure. We did that when we moved in. Just with dry lock paint.

I moved the snow away from the edge of the house. And it hasn't leaked since

Initially we were gonna dig it up and do a membrane. But now I'm thinking a large concrete pad in the front of the house might be the better option. Back of our house has a concrete patio.

So I'm thinking a properly sloped concrete pad will solve the issue. Still deciding

I looked through the visit pictures, and I don't have any shots of what I was talking about. Seems I get too busy talking to actually take pictures of people (much easier when it's just the landscapes flying past).

But I did find this blurry gem.

Putting concrete down may help if you can keep the snow off it, or at least down. Make it a lot harder later to dig it up if you decide it needs some membrane down the road.

Which essentially is driving me nuts now.

Concrete down will solve it for now. It would come out in front of the house a solid 6 feet. And concrete would make snow removal much much easier.

Plus I could add drains with minor excavation to channel water gathering on the concrete away from the house.

But if we add a membrane we will still do the concrete later. And that is a 2 solutions for the same problem which would almost guarantee success.

Been warm all day here above freezing and no water intrusion at all

What's process like for installing a membrane? Is it like a roll of plastic or is it a hot mop process?

Eric , are you considering a French drain system before concrete?

It is a self adhesive deal. Popular one is called bituthane. Or snow and ice shield. The below grade stuff is decently thick though.

When we bought the house we dug around the foundation and put dry lock on and a French drain. At the time everything I had read or was said to me indicated that gravel about 12" deep on top of the pipe would suffice. So that is what I did.

If we dig I will do the same except I will put gravel to just below grade.

The water intrusion was the middle of the wall pretty much at the top of that wet spot on the wall.

It's a huge bummer if we have to dig it up. Mostly cause that makes the previous time a waste.
