New soft top maker

I got another reply back on the 76-91 tops. They said the rear window is going to remain the same size but they are moving it down 1" and the side windows also are going to remain the same size but they are moving them rearward 2-3".

Agree w/ 4x4. That rear brace can be lowered. Those side windows need to come back about a foot or less. The proportions don't look right as is pictured.

Nope, no longer around. That was the one to get when available though. That is the fast-track system. That is also Shawn's rig the "Potent Rodent". You might have seen the build years ago over at Off-Road or one of the magazines.

Yea that's what I figured. I was thinking about this new soft top. Has anyone asked about a tinted window option? I might email them about that tomorrow.

Wow, that is high dollar! I'll have to wait on that.

Well the cheapest I remember was about $550 for any Blazer soft top. The Can-Back for the half-topper trucks was over $1000.

It's a catch-22 for anybody building these things. No one is interested unless it has a lot of features, but no one will pay for a nice one.

In the pictures, the back isn't really sealed. I assume that a strip of adhesive velcro is supposed to be applied to the tailgate?

I really like this design because you don't have to drill the tailgate. Plus, this brace could probably be rolled up with the back window if you need to load cargo in the back. Or you could undo the velcro and put the tailgate down without opening the window, something you can't do with the glass.

In fact, you could transfer this top between trucks very quickly. You just need some sticky velcro.

I think these extra straps are for rolling up the sides and back, but is there something to keep them out of sight when the sides are down?

Does it really seal in the corners? Can't you see daylight in the corner above? I'm thinking about driving in a rainstorm with the tires throwing water up could be a problem.

I bet they can't change the size of the windows because all 3 windows on the Blazer top are the same as the back window on the pickup tops. Look at the optional screen they offer for the Blazer top. It looks like it fits all of their models. I wonder if you could put the screens in the sides as well?

Here is the response I got:

The Screen Option is only for the rear window.
Yes, the webbing straps hang down on the inside when they are not in use.

Thank you,
Softopper

very interested myself...and beings NO ONE is makin soft tops for these trucks anymore, guess they can set the cost where ever they want n people WILL buy em...i know i will soon...

I am sure you could just tuck the straps up out of the way, similar to what you do in a Jeep. Very minor thing to take care of on your own.

But, me... I think it just doesnt look good. Looks pieces together... kind of amateur.

Id rather want snaps, but Im going to a truck gate when I got topless this summer anyway.

Anyone got one yet? I want to see a real rewiew from one of you guys before I drop the money. It's not ready for my 75 yet anyway.

Someone's bought one. I just checked the site and they are out of stock until mid-August! I like soft tops, but IMO this one looks cheesy. I think I'll pass.

I got one. I'll try to get some better pics. My camera was one of the things I had to get rid of to get a soft top...
And it hasn't rained where I'm at yet to get a test of how everything handles up. By the way, the installation was pretty easy and straightforward.
The box it came in was huge. The first pic is the box with a coke can next to it for reference. I had it sent to my mother's cause I couldn't let the wifey know that I bought it.... Then I had to fit that box in my Civic, which was very interesting, to get it home.
