New TOY (pun intended) !!

Okay, I have a line on a '87 FSM for a reasonable price. It will work for my 88 right?
Also, whats a fair price to pay for a SR5 guage cluster?

Filled it up today, it was around 1/4 tank or less, and it cost 33 bucks CDN. :eek1:
How many gallons would the tank be?

Also, what problems could I accounter when I replace the timing chain and guides? It cannot be down for a long period of time.

Come on guys I don't want to lose these deals???

Bump again. I have a couple days to decide. A major thing is will the '87 FSM work for my 88 pickup?

The sr5 guage cluster will be 60 bucks after shipping to my address. deal?
I might just get them both and be gone with it. I want a tach so I don't wreck the lil' 'yoter :haha:

Thanks

Factory Service Manual. Everything I need to do any repairs to the truck.
The trucks doing good. Went 4x4ing yesterday and it was icy as heck so didn't stay long. Still fun. runs well!

I was thinking, and some things I want to do:

Add another interior light in the back, I can hardly see back there at night. Probably see if I can make the front one brighter too. Toyota makes them so dim. In out old corolla it wasn't bright either.

Add an underhood light controllable from a lightswitch (waterproof?) from inside the engine comparment.

Buy an mp3 player and car kit to use with the radio for tunes. or buy a cheap CD player.

Do timing chain kit.

Check/change all oils I can get my hands on.

replace wiper blades with better ones.

Look at drivers side keyhole.

Any other suggestions?

Yes, the 87 fsm will work for your 88. If its cheap buy it. As for the SR5 cluser, i personally wouldnt pay more than $30 for it since i can get them for less at a junkyard, but thats just me.

it was 40 dollars. 20 dollars shipping.
The thing is I can't really go looking until spring( lazy) and there were only 4 or 5 pickups/4runners at the junkyard and im not sure if any where sport ralley models. I don't know, I just wanted one soon so I can have the tach.

What do you consider cheap for the FSM?

SR5 cluster arrived this morning. The factory service manual should come any day now hopefully.
Soon I will hopefully get on eBay and purchase the timing chain kit.

Pictures later of the sr5 cluster. Its cleeean :eek1:

Got the FSM this morning. It's HUGE!
Also got this little book written by Jay Kopycinski which looks great too.

USPS mangled the box though:haha:

Took out the old guage cluster today. A lot easier then I thought once I read some instructions. First I ended up taking apart the heating duct under the steering colum, then the dash under the colum, all because of that stupid speedo connector.
Hope to find a new oil pressure sensor for the sr5 cluster tomorrow and have it running by the weeekends, end.

Well.
I changed the sr5 gauge cluster in finally, got it all hooked up and I think all the lights work (will have to check once it gets dark) and the speedo cable is a b*tch to get connected.
Snapped abunch of pictures for a write up on some toyota board.

also, found the speakers in the truck while I took apart the dash. They are TINY! but they will do for now...

Hope it's okay I have this thread here?

Anyways I am looking at getting a timing chain kit very soon as soon as I can talk my mom into it. I still owe her 300 bucks for misc. things I've bought. I just pray and pray I can sell some freaking parts to take me out of debt/stress.

Also been researching LEDS a bit- I want to upgrade the interior light and add an underhood light to the truck. Should be okay? :s

Thanks

I finally have some spare cash, so I will purchase a timing chain kit from eBay soon hopefully. The last week I took off the campershell, running boards, and put on my tires/wheels from the Jimmy (32" all terrains) and then went wheeling with my moms boyfriend and his son on his quad. No action pics, but here is the after math:

Nothing significant, a lot of snow left on the mountain and a lot of water holes.
