Nice rig but $13K?

""Ford Bronco's and Chevy 67-72 stuff""

You can plan on stroking a check for min 20K for a nice late 60's /early 70's ford/chevy. mint condition can go as high as 30+

It's all about what you want - for the guys that know how to do everything ( motor, trans, fab, etc) it would never be worth it. Those guys would build their own. For someone that doesn't know jack **** about the trucks and doesn't want to mess around with restoring... it's a better deal to buy it already done.

We all put more money in our rigs than we could ever sell for... that's a given.

I know for me personally .... the next truck i get ( 67-72 GMC/Chevy 4x4) will be showroom and mint .... I don't know how to do most of the things needed... and don't want to screw with paying 50 different people to make it right. I just went through it with my K5...never again.

A nice clean 3/4 ton or 1-ton is more rare in my eyes Because they were work trucks and treated as such. K5's were more of station wagon type family truckster if you will, and generally speaking led a MUCH easier service life.

I am Truck guy , Regular cab Long bed is what I prefer its the most practical for me and if you get a 1-ton you dont have to "build" it because it has the good stuff already.

And what's wrong with rustoleum?? its damn good paint, especially if you buy it in non aerosol.

A 3/4 or even a 1 ton regular cab long beds are a dime a dozen. They are all over the place, it was the most popular chassis configuration until the early 90's when the extended cab came out.

I am however, with you on the lines of a 3+3, crew cab 1 tons are hard to find, and really hard to find that are clean.

You are right about blazers, they were a lot of times treated better, but blazers were popular in areas that 4WD vehicles were common, and so that can make it hard to find one that is rust free.

Rustoleum is good paint, if the surface was treated properly before it went on. I used Rustoleum on my K5, but I cleaned the chassis and primed it with a special primer. The question is if the guy did it right, or more commonly just slapped some paint on.

I stand by my appraisal of $5500. But don't get me wrong, with a K5 in the same condition I wouldn't say more than $6500. I just don't think the value is there yet in these 70's/80's trucks to pull five digits. To get 10K plus I think it's either got to be a really cool build that would appeal to what a lot of non mechanically inclined people would want but can't do, or a full on restore where nothing is left sub par. I'm talking restore jobs like Teck's truck that is basically completed, and like my K5 will hopefully be like when it's done in the next month or so.

This truck in question for sale falls very short of a wild build or pristine restore.

the posting was deleted by its author.. did it sell? I wouldn't mind seeing it...
Someone here must have sent him a link to this page.

And no, it wasn't me.

Same here. I'd like to see it. Anyone right-click-save a pic or anything?
You're not missing anything. I've seen better. Matter of fact, I've seen beaters that looked better than this one.

Ouch! Harsh. It was a clean rig but for that kind of scratch it had better have the best of everything. It didnt but was a clean old longbed.

I'm kinda disappointed I would have liked to have seen it too. Oh well. I was beginning to think this was going to turn into another "Tool box" thread.:haha::haha::popcorn:

No but I would have loved to see the expressions on some of your faces when you thought someone here did.

I wouldn't care. Its not my money that got spent. :deal:

being in the car business, his price makes sense to me. why... follow the logic ball...

o - the only price that matters on a vehicle, is the price someone else is willing to pay. So what if youre only willing to pay $2k, when someone else buys it for $10k that means it was worth $10k.

o - anytime youre going to try to sell a car, people are going to lowball the hell out of you. so start your price high, be firm, and then drop a chunk afte some negociating, youll set a trap most people will fall into, and you can get more than the truck is worth, but less than your asking price.

o - 90% of car and truck buyers have no technical knowledge of what they are looking at. the guys on this forum are a rare bunch of tech and spec heads that will pick something apart. to almost every other person in the world the only things that matter are is it pretty? does it run? will it pass inspection? get yes's on those three items, the vehicle is almost sold already.
