NP205 to NV4500 Questions

I have never seen one... Just about however you go about it you will have to get the input bearing opened up for the 32spline shift and big bearing. Depending on what you plan to do for your bellhousing you could do the whole AA kit. Or if you are running one of the OEM bells you could run a short 32spline input and a fig 8 to round pattern adapter from one of the vendors. I personally went with a long input and the custom adapter for a few reasons, I was able to keep from notching the extension housing for the shift rails and with a 164.5" wheel base the extra 2 inches won't kill me!

Then yes, with a short 32 spline input shaft and the adapter you link to, you would be able to bolt the NP205 to the NV4500, you will still need to clearance the tail housing for the shift rail though.

Just buy the AA lever mount? The only problem is the current t/c is a syncro and slip yoke. Kinda want to keep it a syncro so I can leave it auto hubs.

You can do AA shift bracket but i built something like below for about 10 bucks. I dont have any pics of my setup with me right now... Also i dont know much about the syncro 205's but will all of the internals not swap into the other 205 case?

Shifter bracket will look something like this.

And mount like this.

They will but it may be as easy to have the 10spline modified. Need a 32 spline for my doubler.

Wish I had a cnc lazer cutter. Do you make pieces like this?

yes but then I have to change shifters and stuff. Pisses me off I am going to have to move the hole for the shifter, Dammit GM stop trying to be Ford! Everything should bolt to everything!

So to bring it up again (cause it isn't talked about enough all over the web), anyone still have concerns about bolting a huge and heavy 205 behind a nv4500? Seems like people have raised concern about this with no realworld experience. Anyone that has done this had any problems whatsoever? I am gonna go this route, just trying to decide weather to purchase the AA adapter, or just swap to a short input and modify the rear of the 4500 for the shift rails (looks like very minimul modifications). I plan to run the AA bellhousing and slave adapter for sure, just deciding what to do with the tcase

I was a little concerned about the 205 hanging off the back too but it seems like no one has had a problem so far so I guess we will see. Also with the short 205 input i have heard that you have to clearance the inside of the transmission extension housing to clear the bolt heads on the 205 input bearing retainer. Not 100% on this because I ended up going to a long input.

Yes you do, but it is very minimal. Larry did it on his K10 with the 8.1 liter and from the pics he had it looked like all he did was take a file to the certain spots. Didn't look bad at all

we did his 4500/205 with spacer kit from AA and ord twin stick shifter setup . I mod the rail for full twin stick .

works just fine no extra braces .

he runs 38" swampers and locked frt/rear with built 400sbc .

he has exploded a stub shaft and hub on this combo .

the bolt clearance could be solved with bolt swap to button head allen drives . I did it for a 241 adaptor to redrilled 203 range box and fixed my clearance problems .
