OFFICIAL* Dante's Peak Suburban Build *

People say his a mooch since so many donations helped this build...

Metro, as far as I'm concerned, you are obligated to keep and enjoy this truck! It never would have happened without YOU! We all live this truck with the exception of a few dick heads that are simply out of touch with reality. Screw those few. Put it this way, there might be 10 people across the boards that would like to watch you burn. But I guarantee there is at least 1000 of us that want nothing more than to see your smiling face standing next to this truck. And we want lots and lots of pics! I would like it if you posted a new pic every day.

Then I should give mine away to. BFG tires, Swayaway Shocks, Allied wheels, PRP racing seats and belts, Currie Extreme Duty rear end and many more.

Lawrence, stop listening to the idiots who don't know how to do something different. Enjoy the truck and wheel it.

Metro, The ones your hurting by listening to the pricks of cyber world are your loyal fans! I would argue that there are thousands of us. Your going to let a couple people hurt the thousands of us?

**** the haters.:flipoff1:

Lawrence, you're a good man, and they only hate on you because you were creative and figured out how to build your dream truck on a limited budget. Wish I could do half as well...:doah: So don't let them win and screw the rest of us over (many that have a personal investment in this truck) because of a few whiny bitches. You're better than them. You're stronger than them. Piss them off by happily rolling around in YOUR Suburban, that YOU built, while showing the world what an awesome rig YOU built. The haters are just jealous, that's all.

Also, go watch overhaulin. They make people's dreams come true and it's 100% donations and sponsorships.

I didn’t do it this time! :haha:

Like everybody else I don’t know what fueled the drama this time either. While I may not always agree with the parts and labor procurement process on this build the last thing I would like to see Lawrence do is throw in the towel. And contrary to popular belief, I am NOT one of the 10 y5mgisi speaks of that would like to watch him burn. He had a dream, coordinated the build and was able to attend the big shindig up in Idaho. Even made it in the local newspaper. That is pretty cool too see regardless if a person agrees with his approach or not. He should be PROUD!

Everybody is entitled to their own opinion and my opinion has not been popular with a few guys in the so called “CK5 brotherhood” but in the end, I too am happy for him and very fond of his end product. Good job Lawrence! Don’t worry about people that share different opinions. Your opinion is the only one that really matters….period. Now pick yourself up and go enjoy that sweet ride! :waytogo:

really? huh, personally I was jealous. lol I didn't manage to get anyone lined up to sponsor my truck... I figured he's smarter than me to pull that off. :dunno:

Anyway, like Larry says, the only opinion that matters is yours and trust me, this is the internet, no matter what opinion you have on any subject there are going to be plenty of people that agree and disagree with you about it. Can't take that stuff to heart.

That's the thing tho. He put a lot of time and effort into coordinating sponsors and doing it right. It's not like he hoodwinked anyone or took credit for anything.
People don't seem to realize that his time is a commodity and he donated it to help other people get their sponsorship dollars worth.
Essentially you have a lot of people that are jealous of the fact that he accomplished his dream build that quickly.

Apparently no one understands how advertising/marketing/ and sponsorship dollars work or they'd quit bringing this BS up. All of the companies that
Donated time or parts received fair market value in their recognition on the build. Which is exactly what they were expecting when they signed up.

You don't like it? Tough ****in tittys. Think of the idea first next time.

Never heard of the websites like carsponsors.com or any number of other sites where you can get discount sponsorships for advertising the parts.

Chuckleheads.
And you know exactly who you are.

Thank you for posting this Larry. I knew you were better than having a black and white view on this.

There have been guys who have taken advantage of people's generosity and I think that is far greater sin than most anything but I never once for a minute thought that Lawrence was going down that path, nor do I think it is ok to cut off future generosity for atrocities commited in the past regardless.

He's pretty beat up over all the drama involved with this build and that's why I'm all riled up. This man had his wildest dreams come true but they've been tarnished with the drama. That's akin to sending a kid with cancer to disney land but giving that kid crap for riding on the coat tails of people who helped them get there. It just doesn't make sense and feels super inappropriate to me.

I haven't heard from or seen Lawrence all day. I hope he is doing ok. I hope we can all just let this water go under the bridge and let the man enjoy what is likely one of his proudest achievements in life. I too hope to see a lot more Sunday afternoon drives, car shows entries, trophies and driveway pictures of this rig in the coming years.

I agree. Shortly after the carshow, Lawrence hosted my wife and I for a night on our trip to the Rockies. The next morning we all took the DP surburban wheeling in the mountains. My wife had never seen the Rockies, and I could count on my fingers the number of chances I've had to enjoy them. His willingness to share his place and his truck with us made some life-long memories for both of these two flatlanders, and it was the highlight of the trip (hands down). Lawrence turned that truck into a blessing. I fear he is now trying (again) to erase that blessing.

Lawrence - Today's message is consistent with what you have been saying the last few weeks. In that I'm not surprised. But, as one who has been blessed by your generosity, I'm grieved that you have decided to cut yourself off from the support of those around you. I have loved watching the truck come together over the last year or so. I enjoyed seeing it in person. I have been looking forward to seeing the last few projects buttoned up. It feels a bit like betrayal to see you trying to pull the plug on it. Especially seeing how you have been able to use it to encourage those around you.

I have said these things in PMs to Lawrence, but as he is not responding, I have decided to post this publicly in hope that he will drop back in sometime. As I said before, you will be missed, Lawrence. Your sig line already is.

I`m glad you posted that!
Your threads are one of the many that I like to follow. :thumb:

I`m not interested in reading posts by anyone that is hassling Lawrence and HIS build.

If names are named I will not continue to read anything posted by them.

Yes everyone has and should have a opinion...but they should also know when to shut the fock up!!

Well hopefully Metro learns to deal with it, or someone else ends up with the truck and can continue to show off the hard work of an individual and his supporters.

I guess we dont know what its like being on the receiving end of all the negativity.

Well I want to thank him for the build and letting everyone be part of it. It's a CK5 build and it represents all of us!

So who pissed him off enough to give up? Must have really hurt his feelings because he has been so proud of the build... it's a shame really... maybe the support of these posts will change his mind! :waytogo:

Larry, glad you posted. I know your opinions were not popular during some of this, and you took some crap as well. This was very classy:waytogo:

I've been watching this build from the beginning. One of the reasons I started loving our square body trucks is because of the DP suburban crossing the river with the snorkel. Lawrence, I hope you can step away for a while, let this stupidness pass, and enjoy the truck. Please don't sell it.... I think the best thing would be to keep showing it off here for us, and keep showing it off to the public. That's what the sponsors of this build wanted when they donated the parts.

Larry, your post is surprising, but in a good way :thumb:

Well, Desert Rat nailed it on the head in the other thread in the Lounge. I fall into the camp that he speaks of that have been on the other end of donations and are highly suspicious of anything of that sort. Working in the automotive/truck manufacturing industry my entire career has been an eye opener of scams and crooks looking for sponsors, freebies and just basically……money for their self serving reasons.

[FONT=&quot]I will admit I probably tend to be callous and view people as guilty until proven innocent in this regard. While Lawrence's intentions and integrity have probably always been in the right place sometimes his wiring can be misconstrued as one of “those” people. The fast editing he did to some of his posts and dragging things across forum to forum and ugly PM threats didn’t help matters any in my mind. That is all water under the bridge. In the end, I am happy for the guy and harbor no bad feelings for him or his rig. The burb turned out sweet! It’s the best Dante’s Suburban clone created yet! He has a great friend in Russell. He should heed Russell’s advice more often. Russell is not going to lead him down the wrong path. Again, I personally see no reason why Lawrence should throw in the towel. Now, we want to see a Dante utility bed clone created! Get'R done! :waytogo:

Larry, I didn't think you were at the helm of this round. You said your piece and stepped away. While I still don't agree with how you went about it initially, I can applaud a person who walks away like you did. Some people just don't know when to let stuff go. Hopefully Metro can do the same.

Dante's Peak Suburban Build ^ We did it Trophy won

Time to get over it and enjoy the burb. Block, unfriend or whatever you need to do.
It's yours and those who helped business only. If you did nothing wrong you have no need to feel bad about this.
Seems like those who disagree have that right but enough is enough, get on with your business. I'm sure you have endured greater issues as a police officer than this.
I personally wouldn't do something of that magnitude unless I could finance it myself due to the current events that are happening but Regardless enjoy the the burb.

The sun will rise and set each day no matter what. It's your choice what you make of it.
