OFFICIAL* Dante's Peak Suburban Build *

Just that one has a large hole in it for the shifter and one does not haha! If its a hassle we can always just put a sheet metal patch over Lawrence's existing tunnel. I'll need to order a replacement carpet for his burb as well so there isn't a gaping hole in the middle where the shifter used to be anyways.

We are not in a big rush on this project. Cole only has so much time to dedicate into getting it put together and I am more or less unable to go help turn wrenches due to a lack of time on my part as well. I'm aiming to get the Burb back to Lawrence towards the end of January though.

Hey guys, I posted the bracket on Facebook, maybe Russell can get it on here. My membership lapsed so I'm not sure how to get it up.

According to tracking all the parts should be here thursday that Russell sent. I can source misc in town. I am leaving for phoenix Friday and will be gone for a week but when I get back I should be able to start knocking this one out!

So...how soon are you gonna need tranny stuff? I was planning on waiting another month before ripping my truck apart, but I may be able to bump that up. :dunno:

Are you installing the engine first or the tranny?

No rush on trans stuff. I'm not sure when I'll see the transmission yet. I'll probably get the engine in within the next few weeks and pull the old trans out

I'll let you two coordinate on what parts you need to swap around. I can help cover shipping costs if needed.

If at all possible I'd like to try and get the burb done by the end of November so I can free up my shop for another project I need to get done this winter

I'd say we will need the pedals, transmission hump (if both are removable), column, shift indicator, shift linkages, trans cooler and the 27 spline input. We'd have no problem sending you the other stuff. Sounds like Greg will take care of the transmission itself.

I should clarify...this truck is using an NP208, right? I wanna make sure that I don't yank the wrong shaft when I start tearing stuff apart. :doah:

I'm going to have extra accessory brackets for a hybrid v-belt+serpentine setup. Except the power steering pump brackets. Also no A/C brackets.

The transmission hump is not bolt in, in that Suburban. I would just patch what is in there.

I vote for this as well. I don't want the holey sheet metal (I'm going 5-speed, so I'd have to patch it anyway) and I don't see the point in shipping it across the country, given how easily holes can be patched.

10-4!

UPS managed to lose the engine in Salt Lake somewhere. A new one was shipped out yesterday. Hopefully it'll arrive in a couple days.

Airborne Express once lost a 14SF straped to a pallet that I bought on Ebay.

do like I did and lokar floor shifter that bolts to tranny and I positioned it up threw the same hole as the 4 speed was . even reused the 4 speed shifter boot .

black lokar shifter double bend . it fools so many people that its a stick shift . and I love to rest my hand on it . . . since its auto you can do that and not hurt trans over time .

post #11 for pics https://ck5.com/forums/threads/whos-running-a-floor-shifter.14167/#post-3320093

and for about the best deal I found back then . and they even swap knobs for the price difference NOT full new price . http://www.rjays.com/Lokar/lok-nos-shifters-01.htm
