IDI's are practically indestructable.
That's why I bought one.
As for towing Chevy's w/ other makes.... I didn't have much of a choice for my price bracket.
I can't afford a newer diesel, nor could I afford the INSANE upkeep costs.
I've read stories of guy's that had to have the cabs pulled, just to replace parts!
I'd rather drive a mechanically driven IDI.
Finding a Chevy diesel around here is practically impossible.
I also like the prospect of a 7.3l Turbo, better than a 6.2l Turbo.
No replacement for displacement, and all that jazz...
Once I upgrade a lot of the parts, this truck will be ridiculously dependable.

I think the concept of towing "your brand" with "your brand", is more of a novelty than anything.
