IDI's are practically indestructable.
That's why I bought one.

As for towing Chevy's w/ other makes.... I didn't have much of a choice for my price bracket.

I can't afford a newer diesel, nor could I afford the INSANE upkeep costs.
I've read stories of guy's that had to have the cabs pulled, just to replace parts!

I'd rather drive a mechanically driven IDI.

Finding a Chevy diesel around here is practically impossible.
I also like the prospect of a 7.3l Turbo, better than a 6.2l Turbo.

No replacement for displacement, and all that jazz...

Once I upgrade a lot of the parts, this truck will be ridiculously dependable.

Edit:
I think the concept of towing "your brand" with "your brand", is more of a novelty than anything.

I agree on using the ford or dodge to tow with. I think the 7.3 or even the cummins(too loud for me) are the perfect tow motor. I wonder if anyone has ever put a 7.3 in a k30

I like the newer cummins motor's, you can crank 'em up and pull a TON of power out of 'em.

The 7.3l is a workhorse, plain and simple....
Nothin' special.

Toss a turbo in the mix, and you got somethin' goin' on.

The gawdamm guy REFUSED to do 5% all the way around....

I was pissed.
I settled for 25% in the front, and 5% on the rear windows.

He said, "I don't want you running anyone over, cuz you didn't see them!"

Pffffft.....

I told him,

"This truck is getting a 12" lift and 40's. Tint is the least of my visibility issues."

He still didn't do it.... But, gave me the craziest look I've ever got in my life.

Now I need to find a place that can do The Blazer's wing windows correctly and not some of the half ass **** I've seen on older trucks rolling around here.

Yea, I know what you mean.....
It took the guy 10 min's per wing-window, just to get them right.

The dude was a straight 30yr pro.
He was also an awkward MoFo' to talk to....

I like the 25% tint... It 'looks' okay, but it's NOT what I wanted.
I wanted it BLACK.... Like presidential BLACK.
