That leak developed quickly; puked a quart in about 30ft.

Back to the shop, where I will RTV the oil drain.

I’m exhausted. I went ahead and pulled the turbo and saw where the gasket failed. It’s only good luck I puked a quart and didn’t lose pressure.
For now, I’m going to ignore the voices in my head that are saying, “build an o-ring connection for the drain,” and just do the simple thing and RTV a new paper gasket.
Here’s the offset I built today.

Initial impressions of the turbo are all positive. I’ll be more detailed once I get some miles on it without making concrete look like asphalt.
I’m going to the coin-op tomorrow.

I cut a fresh pattern out of a bulk role of heavy gasket material and applied a thin bit of silicone. It’s setting up while I drink another cup of coffee.Simple paper gaskets work just fine, it's all that I've used on my turbo drain.
It should be a very solid performer with the new turbo.
Look at you being all fancy with the bead roller. How much did that set you back?
...it’s bad when the voices in my head are registered on CK5. And replying.O ring that shit

She’s a whole new truck. Details to come.

That’s awesome, you almost kept up with that hyundai. Lol, JK! Looks like it runs great. All right, gents. HE351CW install and integration is complete. Testing and tuning now commence.
Around town, boost builds quickly up to 8psi, and is very responsive. Highway cruise is 7psi, and jumps quickly if prodded. EGTs are way lower, too. From idle to cruise, every reference point is 100-150F lower than with the TE06H.
There’s no detectable black smoke, either, which means I can turn up the fuel and pull out just a bit of timing. The objective is more area under the torque curve; not just more peak torque.
I love working on and driving this truck. It consistently rewards high effort projects.

Thanks man! Let’s hookup for a burger or something on y'all's way through Dallas.I hit like 5 times, but it would only register once.
Appreciate that; lots of new performance reference points to get accustomed to. Good eye on the import spotting. I can never tell all those plastic clad cars apart. That’s awesome, you almost kept up with that hyundai. Lol, JK! Looks like it runs great.
Nope. I’ve had a worn out o-ring on the bleeder screw, but the base itself hasn’t leaked. I have an eye on an upgraded dual filter setup, but that’s for later.Have you ever had a leak with the old Stanadyne box filter setup?
