One Piece at a Time: My 1985 Diesel Suburban

Enjoy yourselves! Have a great time.
Thanks! Y’all can all follow along in relative real-time.

Kurt and I will keep up with photos here on CK5, and the whole Trail to SEMA crew will be posting on the Instagram and the Facebook and the YouTubes. If you have one of those, check it out. At some point, there will be a video of the truck and me, so I’m breaking the seal on internet anonymity (if such a thing ever really existed).

I cranked out one more quick project before the final pack and go.

I’m not relying the hi-lift for tire changes anymore.

West bound and down, shortly. @Spork929

Good road day. We’re in Amarillo now, and the Durango leg is tomorrow.

Basic loadout.

My gear. Kurt’s gear. My friends’ spares. And beer, because 3.2 stuff isn’t going to fly while in Utah. She’s riding a little dirty.

So far, I’m really digging these Razrs. The engine cruises at 2100 at 65, with 8 psi boost and 500-550EGT. It’s a happy combination.

I can't explain how envious I am of you two rat bastards right now. Epic adventure. Enjoying the feed on IG.

So are the powerstop guys putting up videos nightly? Just started watching the videos on youtube and the production of them is top notch.

They will be putting up fresh videos most days, especially starting Sunday/Monday.

I envy you to go to sema, will you have the burb in a booth? If so I don't think we can talk again.......
It’s my first time, and I’m only going to walk the show Tuesday (can’t take any more days). The truck stays at the hotel.

Checking out the IG pics. Just noticed the 2nd alt. good work!

Thanks man. Those should come in handy when running the winch, and I expect I will.

We’re in Durango and headed to dinner. We did a hotel parking lot skid plate install, routed power for the new rugged radio, and fixed an intermittent power problem on a headlight. Management stared at us.

We’ll post photos later tonight.

David

So what you are saying it's not quite like a Roadkill adventure. I think you have to swap out an engine in the lot to reach that level though.

A day and a half of driving in the rain opened up to a beautiful steady climb into Colorado.

Slightly less Roadkill. Much more like finishing the odd tasks I just didn’t get to in Dallas.E9437DE0-9837-4B1E-821F-A9202E7D4B5B.jpeg

The passenger hi beam was intermittent. Butt connectors and shiner to the rescue.

Very much so. I’m out there now.

Kurt found a quick and easy place to mount the rugged radio and routed power and ground through one of the high pressure AC bulkhead pass throughs. We’ll wrap this up tomorrow.2E8A3452-6207-464F-9E96-C04F438B81BF.jpeg

Should be another good weather day tomorrow. I’m going to double check the transfer case output nut, and we’ll hit the road to Grand Junction.
