One Piece at a Time: My 1985 Diesel Suburban

My K30 is on only like 5" of lift with 40"s.
I love it like that.
That’s just a smidge taller than me, and I too love the look.

That’s 10” over stock
But I don’t love the COG. A lot of that is given to the large amount of steel and glass a suburban has above the belt line.

Problem is, even with a stock suspension truck, the tires we’re running are a 5” lift kit by themselves.

This ^

All this suspension is absolutely crammed tight against the engine crossmember. I’d have to carve that up for another ~2” of compression, and then find a place to let the 40s turn at articulated bump.

If I wasn’t up to my prostate in Charger fab and other projects, I’d chase it.

It is pretty cool looking. I know my crew cab ended up taller than I intended but the height does help with break-over.

Low cog in these truck isn’t going to happen without tubing it fro the cab mounts forward. I thought I was cool with my 4 inch lift snd 35s, I have 6.3 inches of up travel on a 14 inch shock.

As bad as it sounds I envy the fords and their frame and front suspension.

It's always fun when you uncover some piece of carpet, or paint that hasn't seen the light of day in decades.
"Hmmm, I thought I hated this color, but unfaded, it's not bad!"

What color of blue is it? I’m sure yours is the darker one and mine is the lighter one.

I think I know what’s going on but I’m going to play dumb. I’m in and prepping for the same thing

I run 4” on 37’s with basically just the front fangs and a minor trim on the back. I’d go 2” but I run the ORD crossover steering and 4” is as low as you can go with that.

2” could fit 37s but you need 4 for crossover and steering 37s with push pull might not make the greatest wheeler
