One Piece at a Time: My 1985 Diesel Suburban

If that's on the bumps out back, I'd move the axle back to center it.
I’ll probably bump it back 1”. I think that’s the spacing on the pad.

Dude, how do you find the time for 2 projects? lol
I have help! Neal is doing the tin work on the suburban while I piddle on the Charger.

New body mounts just came in, and I’ll head to his shop tomorrow for a bit.

It looks like you were taking pictures of some poor guy with his thumbs stuck under the hood. Come on, help a brother out!
Not far off! He’s adjusting the new lokar hood latch, which was giving us a good fight at the time.

A quick shot of Neal’s new inner wheel tubs. The 40s used to rub ever so slightly under full articulation, so these are 1” deeper per side and longer to match to the outer bedside profile.

I’m pretty sure I’ll install a Decked drawer for a tacoma, put the bed slide on top, and either make cubbies for over the wheel wells or mounts for packouts. Not sure how that will come together just yet.

Can I ask how many hours Neal has into your front and rear fenders?
160ish. He works pretty quickly. I'd probably have that figure invested in just the external panels.

I know scripture SAYS not to covet … but dang dude, you ain’t makin it easy
9 out of 10 is still an A is most circles.

Whats the time frame it will be in paint jail and back on the road?
It's probably 6 months at Gabe's, 1 month with me for interior, change the oil, drive around the block, SEMA, and I haven't planned beyond that. There's 40 years of wear to remediate, and it'll probably take every week leading up to the show to get it right.

That isn't as bad as I thought and a good goal to achieve. I have talks with some friends vaguely about going to the Sema show, it would be awesome to run into the old girl.
