One Piece at a Time: My 1985 Diesel Suburban

Those barn doors are a bitch. I got one straight, and the other one i lost my patience and beat it with a hammer! F bodywork lol.

Those barn doors are a bitch.
…and a half. Really tricky. I don’t know how any of us would get this done without cutting out the inside panel.

Also have the blown open to far depression in one.
The deer lease suburban is that way. It’s a quirk I embrace, but that truck doesn’t leave the property and the carb is routinely caked in dirt dobbers. How bad are your doors?

David

Mine aren't horrible, only one has the dent. I put new straps on 20 years ago, replacing the 26 yo orginals. Hmm might be time to source some more straps.
I can't seem to get the adjustments right, so the seam is even, and they are easy to open. Most people believe it is locked when it isn't. The button is very hard to push.
mine also have one 6×9 whole cut into passenger door. I have some 80mil butyl on outside skin, cut down on some noise.

The work being to your burb is top notch, maybe my son will do the same when he gets ours.

Pretty similar to 1990 black sapphire mettallic.
Real close. Might make another mix to get this just slightly darker like yours. The middle one is the 11g.

That is pretty, is seymour going to release 1985 Willomet blue?
Their custom mix would be available to anyone, and I’ll gladly share the recipe.

Well no matter what, she’s gonna be a ‘beaut!

Lots of small updates on suburban paint are due, but this one couldn't wait.

My dad and I just finished a 3014 mile round trip from Dallas to San Diego to get this tilt deck car hauler, make a bunch of video, and see friends.
22', 20K, unpowered tilt deck, built like an Abrams tank. This will haul to suburban to SEMA and the ORD GMC a bit.

Nice, that looks like a very Versatile trailer.

I wouldn't mind a trailer like that, for future possibilities. But I don't want to go through the crap you have to now for a CDL.

Cdl ? For a 2 axle trailer ?

Edit yeah I guess 26k combined would be easy to exceed with that one.

Only a sharp eyed trooper might notice
