Overkillz Dune Truggy Build

Got the box off and both fuel tanks out today. They both leak, so either patch one or build a fuel cell.

Keep yanking stuff! My neighbor used to laugh at me because I was always pulling off a piece here, some carpet there, a bracket there all in an effort to save weight but at the end of the day it makes a big difference. I have a scale tag with the whole truck (before the doubler and 60 went it) with a full tank and tools right at 4,000lbs (almost on the dot).

Not bad for a full size truck.

Its kinda funny that the guy drove it home last week and now it looks like this lol. Not much left to do now as far as destruction.... Gonna hack the back of the cab off following that rear window line going down. Really just need to start finding bucket seats and throw engine trans in and srart fabbin. Gonna make plates to weld the cage to and then make it all bolt on so we can build it, take it and cab off. Then my buddy can bring it to work and toss it in the shot blast room. Hopefully we will have a $400 order in tonight at summit for the 750cfm q-jet and inline fuel pump and gasket set for motor. Then we can set the motor in and start plumbing.

Nice job weenie boy!

Lol its fun just rippin and tearin when u dont gotta worry bout breakin $hit lol. If we keep the momentum going like this we may have it running next week. Im way to excited to start fabbin. Finally got my welder pretty zeroed in for the thicker metal.

there is a 5.3 on our local board for $500. Should be able to find one that cheap or cheaper.

Search CL, maybe you cam find a good deal on a running small.block and carb instead of buying all new

We got a motor. Just gonna buy a new qjet as none of us know nor know anyone with experiance on them and i hear they are a bitch. Less to fuss with. Slap on and go. It will be the most expensive part by far on the whole thing, so its not that big a deal. Plus i may steal it and swap it with my edelbrock at some point and see how the blazer likes it

So Adam remember that I have my Lunati Voodoo valvetrain for sale... ;) :deal:

Perfect time to slap a cam in that motor of yours

Autozone sells qjets. Just get one for like a 73 z28. Or get a stock one, stop being a pussy and rebuild it then have it chassis dynoed for the extra POWA.

Time is my biggest limiting factor now. I start classes the 27th and ill have work then class till 9pm. So a day of effing with an old carb is not what i want. Take it out of the box, put it on and have it run. I will have to check az. U know what pricing they have? $269 on summit for a 750.

I am studying of speech right now, then calc, need to clean up a house and have a pile of parts for my k30 as big as a blazer but the hour it took to clean up a qjet would be worth it. Not like you care if it idles. Just hold the long pedal wot and use the lever on the column to set the speed.

I am not the one b.s.ing on the internets (which are serious business) in stead of learning the ins and out of the wonderful fuel metering equipment we call a quadrajet.
